They may work ok on the thin T-posts, but it you use your fencing for anything bigger than a bunny, you're probably wanting to use the heavier duty T-posts. Otherwise the animals can easily bend them. Any older T-posts will likely be even heavier and thicker than what we buy today. These insulators are not for serious fencing. If you try to use them on the thicker posts, you have to use a screwdriver to get them to make that final snap onto the post. They frequently break. Do yourself a favor and stick to the old fashioned type. They're easy to get on, stay on, don't break as easy, and are easier to get off when the time comes.

@@josephperotta6633 Wow. I'm suddenly feeling old. I went out to a couple of supply places to grab a link for you, and I can't find them anywhere. It used to be almost the only thing you could get for a t-post. They're similar to these, usually black or red, but don't have the part that goes around the back of the t-post. They're more flexible, and don't break as easily. You can put them on and take them off with one hand. When a horse hits them, instead of breaking like the reversed ones usually do, they just come off, and you can easily snap them back on. You could get ones that were pretty snug to the post, 4" ones, and at one time I got some that were about 8". I save everything, so I have boxes of them. Now I think what I have is a treasure!

Chicago steel still makes them and these insulators are trash, snap every other one, American farm works makes a much better version that fits the thicker posts. Your local co-op will have real tposts unlike tractor supply
