Sooooo, if my units are already tethered, do I have to do the front installation? Can't I just tether with Neema? Just curious?

I didn't buy the hds 10 with the structure scan bundle I want to read the one off the 9 touch

Hey John, sorry for the late response. I did not read any info regarding the placement of the point 1 close to the transducer. The only thing Lowrance advised was to keep the antenna away from the trolling motor as there were issues with the magnet in the trolling motor adversely affecting the point 1. I have been using the point 1 for a few months now and it is extremely accurate. My transducer is a hull mount at the rear of the boat and have had zero issues.

As mentioned above, when marking waypoints with the Structure or 2D transducer from the console, the transducer is actually in the rear of the boat. So putting crosshairs over structure and marking a waypoint will not be as accurate as if the Point 1 was closer to the actual transducer showing the structure. The distance off will probably not be enough to matter considering the inherent inaccuracy of GPS in general but it makes me more confident to have the Point 1 at the rear.

Great Video Aaron. If I already have a NMEA network connecting three units in my boat, could I hook the point 1 to that backbone with just (1) T Connector?
@txman2019 жыл бұрын
Caleb Marconett Correct! I just checked "what comes in the box" and it does include a T connector. Most who already have a NMEA network won't need anything additional.

i have a point one onmy boat but i just bought a new simrad unit, do you recommend using the point one or the built in gps in the unit?

Great video I have the hds9 touch and hds 10 non touch I want to network both units together so the hds 10 in front reads just the structure scan transducer in the back if I do this will my regular sonar read the transducer in the front on my 55 minkota powerdrive or will it be reading the 9touch or do I have the option to select which one I can read sorry I'm a noob
@alesieur19719 жыл бұрын
537VIK . Sorry, I have not been checking the messages on my KZbin account and realized I had a bunch on here. Not sure if you got the answer to your question. You have the option of selecting the source on each of the touch units if you have two separate transducers. Look at the bottom of the menu at source. It will say this unit or the name of the other unit to choose from (hds10 or hds9).

I have a question.. If you connect both units up to your point-1 that's installed on the back of your boat, when you create a way point from the bow of the boat will it actually use the location where your point-1 is installed to mark the way point? and not the actual creation area, which is the bow of the boat. please help me understand.
@gbsillars9 жыл бұрын
The head unit will use the only location it knows, and that's wherever the antenna is. Even if your boat is 500 feet long, the head unit thinks it's where the antenna is. I hope this makes sense.
@txman2019 жыл бұрын
481vRanger Gordon is correct. Aaron is introducing uncertainty in exactly where a point of interest is located. An antenna records its own position, not the position of the transducer. if a transducer and an antenna are 8 feet apart, all we can say is that the REAL point of interest is somewhere within an 8' radius of the stored waypoint. In which direction from that stored point depends on which way the boat was sitting when the operator pushed the button to save the waypoint. While GPS does have some level of intentional error for security purposes, Making the waypoint certainty be "somewhere inside a 16' diameter circle" definitely makes it worse. If you usually mark waypoints viewed from the stern transducer, put the antenna there!

So I had 2 point ones installed. One for bow and one for transom (console) the installer didnt label them under the data section which is which. One of them is Point1 6311 and the other Point 1 6304. How do I know which is which?

Oh man. No clue. Have you tried Lowrance tech support ?
@wendywalker48683 жыл бұрын
Hi Todd, can I fit my point one at 45 degrees downward facing forward? Thank you
@alesieur19713 жыл бұрын
I don’t know the answer to that but I bet the Lowrance tech support does 👍🏻

Hey Aaron I have a ? Can you share the point 1 antenna with two units? I have two elite 7 and I was wondering if I purchase the point 1 if I can share that signal on both units... Any comments would be really appreciated.
@alesieur197110 жыл бұрын
Reynaldo, yes you can share the info with two units but I am not sure about the elite 7s. The elite 7s are not network compatible. The HDS units I have on my boat are network compatible so I am able to share the point one info on both units. I would check with Lowrance tech support to see if there is a possibility of hooking both the elite 7s into the NEMA backbone and possible getting the point one antenna through the backbone to both the units.

If you already linked two units together with Ethernet cable do you still have to run cable up front? Or is Ethernet cable enough?
@andybowlin6 жыл бұрын
It looks like you have Ethernet cable as well as running cable for antenna??
@alesieur19716 жыл бұрын
Andy Bowlin I have both the Ethernet and point one cable into both units. I can’t remember if all you need is Ethernet. I have it set that way as sometimes I have my helm unit off. That way I can still have accurate boat position noted when casting to off shore waypoint/structure
@Cornuts10008 жыл бұрын
Why do you need the antenna if your depth finder has an internal antenna? Im linking two Low Elite 7 hdis with no external antenna
@shanedurrance8 жыл бұрын
+The external is MUCH faster! Especially when backing up over a weigh point.

+Shane Durrance ok sorry. didn't know that

Why not 3 t's and one terminating resistor
