For future installations, do try a cardboard mock-up first, use the mock-up as if it’s the acrylic. This way, you can do many refinements before the confirmed design.

When door is closed, causes air "starvation" which is the main reason for higher noise decibel as well as less air change. Fan lifespan will be shorten.

for the acrylic cutting services , do they provide drilling the clearance hole for the rivet ? as i see u need to drill it on your own. how much did they quote you for the acrylic cutting ?
@kakilai
@kakilai Жыл бұрын
You can chat with them via shopee to see if they can drill the rivet holes for you, they should be able to do it. The custom-cut acrylic cost me $32 excluding shipping and the plain 50cmx60cm that I cut myself cost only $8 excluding shipping.

One of the worries i have in installing the fan in a bathroom with single window is the stagnant air when the fan is not turned on for quite awhile e.g on vacation. This is because the only outlet now is the door. So if we dont open the door often / dont use the fan, it may actually cause mould. Is it an issue for you?
@kakilai
@kakilai Жыл бұрын
hahaha what a great problem you have, unfortunately I don't travel long enough to have that issue. But even if I do travel for extended periods, it can't be avoided anyway since i'll be closing all the windows in the house

hello, your acrylic panel seems transparent when you tear off the protective layer, but when you install seems to be frosted. did you paste a frosted sheet over it? or I need to tell them frosted acrylic panel?
@kakilai

I bought a frosted acrylic panel, it looks transparent because I placed it close to the floor

Are you screw directly through to the aluminum frame? what kind of screw are you using ?
@kakilai

yes, installed directly on the aluminum frame. I did not use screws, rivets were used.

Bought a KDK ventilation fan and HIP contractors say they unable to install for us as item is not under their scope (only their type of brand&model used can). Can your electrician provide the acrylic, cutting, wiring & install the fan? Or just only wiring works?

Hi, the string attached to the cover of the exhaust fan snapped, how do I fix it myself? Thanks!

i guess you can only remove a whole fan and get a replacement string from local hardware shops and re-tie it yourself

Wat about the power of the fan ? Is it good ? Does it help with drying of the toilet ?
@kakilai
@kakilai Ай бұрын
Had it for 2.5 years now, it’s not as strong as it was first installed but it’s still working fine and still removes moisture quickly. Cooking grease do clog up the motor overtime as the bathroom that I had this fan installed was connected to the kitchen, but after a quick service, cleaning and oiling the motor, it can functioned at 80% of brand new condition.

Hi, can I check, can I use an electric screwdriver for this with screws instead of rivets? As my husband insists it's possible with screws
@kakilai
@kakilai 5 ай бұрын
Yes it’s possible, but to prevent the acrylic from cracking, you should predrill the holes on the acrylic and make sure that the screw thread can pass through the acrylic freely. I have tried turning screws into acrylic in my other router video and the acrylic can crack very easily due to its brittle nature

But you don't show the installation of the fan itself. Did you add the cost of the fan and electrical installation and acrylic and your time?

ohh if I add my time doing all that + planning and editing the video, I probably should be paid a couple of thousand bucks.. since that's not gonna happen, I'll just do it for fun :)

@kakilai

I wouldn’t recommend the installation if you cannot drill into the frames. Using another other non-mechanical ways to secure the fan is extremely dangerous.

Hello! Can I check if the acrylic panel can hold the weight of the fan? Is there any other secure done to the fan onto the acrylic panel?
@kakilai
@kakilai Жыл бұрын
Hi! We initially planned to use a 5mm sheet but couldn’t find one that was reasonably priced. The one on this video is 3mm, it’s actually sturdy enough and I wouldn’t recommend going for 2mm/1mm. There is no other fasters used to secure the fan to the acrylic, it is just seating on it. You can use silicon to “glue” it to the acrylic but that means you wouldn’t be able to take it out to do regular cleaning and maintenance. This gets dusty quite fast!

@kakilai
@kakilai 2 жыл бұрын
That is a riveter! Rivets are used for this project because I am not sure of the thickness of the aluminium window frame. If it’s too thin and screws are used for the installation , the screw thread may not being strong enough to hold the weight of the acrylic and the fan

Actually in this video, I was looking at how to create the wiring for the fan... The wiring is the real black box in this installation of the fan which I have no idea how
@kakilai

Its actually just live, neutral and earth wires found in typical appliances. If you are not familiar with such wiring, it’s best to leave the installation to specialists and avoid endangering yourself

yeah kinda missed that part out cause the time-lapse was too fast. But there actually isn't much to mounting the fan, the cutout of the acrylic is slightly larger than the fan so the fan passes through the hole and just "hang" there
