Just use ARP bolts and torque to a value not angle. Save the cost if the expensive wrench plus have a better bolt!

Wouldn't you still need to have a "expensive" accurate wrench? Like, I wouldn't do engine work with a local tool store torque wrench for example.

Inner: 60ft/lbs Outer: 50 ft/lbs Rod Bolts: 50 ft/lbs. Your welcome verified by several torque wrenches. Use clean bolts with some light oil.

Good to know. Is this impacting the values? I've never done any serious bolts like these bolts. Is there a better place to get leverage?

@@YTMegiddo use both hands on the handle if necessary. The values are calibrated to a rotational force at the handle. Placing your hand on the head of the wrench add a second and imposing force. Many will dispute this, but its fact.

@@kevinshiley9061 Excellent! When I've done it, it was more to keep the wrench from slipping off (old habits from crappy bolt heads). So I see how that could also affect the values.

yeah this video helped no one because not everyone has a 300$ tool , i have a 10$ angle degree torque gauge

Did you ruin the bolts just for this demonstration? Were they single use bolts? Why not get ARP studs and have a much better fastening system?....

Thank you for your question. The addition of ARP bolts would be good, but would require a line hone afterwards. At this power level, the factory bolts are adequate. They are torque angle rather than single use torque to yield.

@@SummitRacing Could you explain why it would be necessary to line hone if ARP studs were used. I have used them numerous times without line honing, did I do it wrong? Thanks!!!

@@dannywilsher4165 ARP main studs for LS engines have greater clamping force than the original and may distort the main caps and cause an out of round condition. On some engines, l have installed new main studs without align honing the block, but l check the mains very closely. Hope this helps.

2:54 after setting up a walk you through it teaching video explaining torque angle or torque to yield bolts and how they are torqued to specific range, then torqued to specific angle, completely forgets what he's supposed to be trying to teach and says "here's the wrench set to 53 foot pounds" when it was actually set to beep at 53 DEGREES. C'mon guys, Re take, Re edit, Re post. (Maybe a little less pot before filming) Oh yea, NOBODY else commenting caught this? Good luck with home schooling your kids guys. :(
