Based on personal experience with having someone put in vinyl sheet using adhesive on the edges only, I’m willing to bet a wrinkle develops in the middle of the flooring over time.

Lol manufacturer's need to revise their advise (leave a ¼" gap), get it to fit tight and use I concave or hooked blade instead of a straight blade

May I ask what size of the nail did you use?

The floor isn't nailed down at all, but I probably used 1 1/4" nail to reattach the shoe molding.

Looking to do this myself, but one thing I've read is you are not supposed to caulk around the toilet. You want to know if your toilet is leaking underneath itself instead of trapping the water.

since she installed the flooring without removing the toilet you have to caulk it to hide the gap but also because the vinyl is higher than the toilet the actual issue is water/urine going into the flooring from the outside. If she installed the floor after removing the toilet then caulk isn't necessary.

Value of the house is higher with ceramic tile that was already on bathroom than with a vinyl sheet flooring that was installed. Waste of money.

It could be because it's easier to clean with children, or less hard to fall on (we have a family friend who fell onto a tiled floor & sustained a head injury). Sometimes people are just going with what's most liveable for them ('though grout lines showing through over time could be a concern) - it would probably be quite easy to pull up & revert to tile in future should the need arise.
