When I hung mine I marked out the stud locations and installed the back of the shelf and the lower brackets to the studs. Don't need as many back anchors and provides much better support I feel. Also, if you didn't install the back anchors to studs you can always buy a packet of wall anchors at Lowes for a few bucks and install them at the stud locations.

I thought I followed his instructions but later when I went in my closet I saw that the shelf had collapsed. Nothing was pulled out of the wall, but the support brackets underneath the shelf gave way. The top part with the teeth became separated from the shelf and when the shelf (with all my clothes!) collapsed, it bent the brackets. Now I have to go to Home Depot and buy another set of brackets but I don't know where I went wrong. Any ideas?

You have prob figured out by now, lol, but he top part with the teeth...the space In between the teeth, need to go in between one of the thin shelf wires or it will not support the shelf or stay put.

The side wall supports are easier to install if you flip the shelf UP, install the side support and then bring the shelf down into the support! That way you don’t have to try to push in the bins with the shelf in the way.

OMG! Thank you so much for the detail on the support beams! I installed mine incorrectly and looked all over trying to figure out what I did wrong! Loved the camera angle on putting them in the grooves. No one actually SHOWED YOU! And the bending...I was totally scared to do that. I was ready to go back to Home Depot and see if I got the wrong size! No one ever said you would need to bend the metal! Thank goodness for you I'm not crazy!!!

Hey just bought a closet maid super slide shelf. On what kind of wall should theses “pins” be used on ? I think a have a tile covered dry wall in my laundry room 😥 I have doubts they’ll work

You are correct. The push pins would not be the best option for that application. You will need to predrill all of your holes and then install drywall anchors and then attach the components with screws instead of push pins.

The weight of this shelf is only safe for maximum 100 pounds and 120 pounds is going to be close to the fail weight if any one is wondering. Now if you needed more weight you could change to a different install method. Also mounting on studs is better. Any thing over 6 feet I would recommend using a rail mounted shelf method.

Hi! Thank you. Quick question I hope. I want to put these shelved next to the stacked washer and dryer. That means I only have one wall the other end will be the washer, for the bracket. Suggestions?

You will need to install a support bracket very close to the end of the open end and then install plastic end piece on the exposed cut end. You also should consider decreasing the spacing between the support brackets as well to make it a little more sturdy. It would also be really good if you can hit wood studs on some of the mounting hardware. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

It looks like some of those shelf supports are different lengths. They make different lengths to match the wall angle for the different shelf depth sizes.

You'll need to use a screw instead of a anchor and push pin....

Hey, can you offer info about fixing a pre installed closet shelve? A couple of the drywall clips broke off or were pulled out the wall.

It can be a real pain when the anchors and supports get pulled through the wall. You are going to need to find areas on the wall that are not damaged and install your anchors there. Even if you patch the drywall where the anchors pulled through, those locations are compromised and will not be suitable for supporting the anchors again. Also, if you are able to attach your supports into studs in the wall behind the drywall, this can give you some added support. Hope this helps.

@@2coolgamerz I'm installing a Closetmaid system in this video. I would recommend using the anchors and supplies designed to go with the closet shelf that you are installing. You need a drill and a screwdriver. An impact driver is optional instead of using a screwdriver. But I wouldnt go out and buy an impact driver just for one closet shelf.

Hi Reno, I got a good tip for you what I did was I spaced them 16" apart but I marked my level so that when I leveled it I didn't have to make a mark now I know you can't do this in every application but I used a 2' a 4' and a 6' level and it seemed to work pretty good and I didn't have to put A-line across their. If your drill hits a stud when you are drilling your pilot holes the push pen method will not work as well and you should consider using a screw to attach the clip instead. In this video, I'm using a combination of the two methods. I hope my explanation makes sense. Thank you for your comment!

How would you suggest handling end brackets that have wall achors already "built in," like Rubbermaid's? Obviously I can't install them at the very end like you're doing here, although I see the wisdom of doing that last with the system you're using.

I have dealt with those type of brackets a long time ago. And once I discovered the shortcoming that you are referring to, I switched over to the style I used in this video. If you cant get the style I used, I would suggest installing one bracket at the height that you want it, and then place the shelf inside the bracket and use a level to make sure that its level, and notate where the bottom of the shelf is located on the other wall. Then flip the bracket and hold it in place to make sure your location is correct. Then mark and drill your holes. OR you can sacrifice one of the brackets and cut the tabs off of it and mark the hole locations as I did in the video, then drill your holes, and install another unaltered bracket. I hope some of this makes sense. Cheers!
