How to Install WireGuard VPN on Unraid

**Important** if you get everything setup and the connected devices can’t ping or make connections you need to add a DNS entry for each peer. In the Unraid WireGuard settings go to each peer you setup and click the arrow on the right to expand what you can see. Add 1.1.1.1 or any other DNS service into the DNS entry area. Apply the changes and re export the config and import it onto your devices.

Made perfect sense. Only had to google a couple things. (My router wanted to know TCP and UDP ports to forward, Wireguard apparently only needs a UDP port.) Thanks!

"Dynamix WireGuard" doesn't appear to show in my App Store. The only matches I get are "Prometheus-Wireguard-Exporter" and "Wireguard-Easy"...I installed the latter and it installs as a Docker, unlike what you mentioned. I have Unraid 6.10.2 and while I have Community Applications installed, my downloads page looks a lot different than that.

Wireguard is now built into Unraid! It's the "VPN Manager" under Settings.

logged in just to say, thank you so much for this video, now I have wireguard setup literally in 15 mins. ran into the dns issue, added 1.1.1.1 as suggested and tunnel is working great. Speed was crawling on my laptop, perhaps I was connecting through my phone data, but still not sure why sites would only half load. But i tested it directly from my phone the tunnel speed was fine. Again, really like your content, simple to the point. looking forward to more unraid content. Perhaps a big one would be onlyoffice integration with nextcloud. I know its an ugly one ;)

sadly port forwards do not work on CGNAT on a 5G broadband router. So have to look at some alternatives in this case. Maybe Cloudflare Zero Trust could be an option.

For CGNAT I would highly recommend Tailscale. I have actually moved my whole setup to Tailscale since making this video.

Great video! I set it up and I am able to view my unRAID dashboard and most containers, however I cannot connect to my QBittorrentvpn container. Any idea why that is? I imagine it is something to do with the VPN the container uses.

You don’t host Cloudflare so that would be pointless. Local Endpoint is your home’s IP address.

One last key item: you have to activate the tunnel and set it to autostart at the top of the wireguard page. I've been burned by that in the past...

If it is not pinging go to the peer you setup and click the arrow on the right to expand. Set the DNS to 1.1.1.1 or any other DNS server. Save that peer and redo the setup on your peer device.
