@@IronedArt One more question. Maybe you work on problem that border beads are rounded while melt? Want they be square. I try to workaround this by add guarding beads, but no good result for now.

Hmm, can't really say it's an issue I've tried to resolve. I just kind of accept it as part of the medium. Not really sure what could be done for that. Maybe clear beads on the outside of it? Not sure if they are really "clear" though as I've never used them.

Hey - this video came up on my recommended page. I have always struggled with perler beads so if I ever attempt them again, I will definitely use this method! Thank you!

Would it be possible to press another spare pegboard on top of it to create holes instead of punching them all in one by one?
@IronedArt
@IronedArt 15 күн бұрын
I've tried it and it "kinda" works, but I always find myself going back to the pen. Just seems more reliable. I've also made a tool that pokes 25 holes at a time at it works well, but surprisingly doesn't seem to speed up my process.

Do you any tips to stop the beads from smearing? I've heard various things about why it happens, like overheating or putting a heavy object on it too soon. What are your thoughts?
@IronedArt
@IronedArt 5 ай бұрын
I've found the smearing comes from making the circle motions with the iron in the same direction the whole time. Every 15-20 seconds I like to go the other direction: Clockwise (15s) and then Counter Clockwise (15s) and repeat that until done.

@@IronedArt That certainly makes sense! I also wanted to ask if you have anything thoughts on gluing pegboards to a hard surface like a plank of wood to keep them from warping. I don't have any problems with the tape method but I can't help but feel wasteful throwing so much tape away,
@IronedArt
@IronedArt 5 ай бұрын
Yeah, not sure about that. Really only one way to find out... 😜 Need someone to come out with a metal pegboard.

Hey do you know if there’s a way to possibly melt the holes down from both sides of the beads? I’ve been looking at some 3D designs but was wondering if I could get the ‘flat’ look from every angle or not
@IronedArt
@IronedArt 6 ай бұрын
Maybe, not sure if it would work. Best way to find out would be to test it on some small examples. Maybe make a 10x10 test sample and see how it turns out.

What tape do you use? I’ve been struggling to poke holes in mine cause I’m using frog tape. It’s also super sticky and is hard to take off after. Love the video!
@calumleonhart

I should also add I find the green frog tape incredibly hard to see where the beads are sometimes. This looks like a good hybrid and is wider too which would be super helpful for bigger and smaller designs.

The tape I use is called Masking Tape. To avoid having issues getting the tape off I typically take it off 5-10mins after it's been cooling so the perler is still kinda warm. Not being able to see the beads is why I don't like using Painters Tape either.
