Awesome thanks for the video. This will make my life easier. Its so hard to jack at the front pinch welds and trying to get a stand in there at the same time!!

Jacking up this car scares the f out of me. I have a traumatic experience lol. I’d rather buy some quick jacks.

I take my old floor mats, fold them in half so the grippy part is on both sides and place one under the high end of each ramp. This makes it much easier to use those plastic ramps. Never had one slide on me using this method.

I would say that there are enough KZbin videos that show the wrong way to do things like this one but I gotta at least give this guy credit for being decent enough to let the viewers know that this is not the proper way which leaves it as a personal choice if the viewer decides to follow this wrong advice. So thank u for letting the viewers know that this is not the proper way to lift this vehicle. But there's a reason every vehicle has specific lifting points it's to prevent damage to whatever component between the jack and the point of contact is getting smashed under 3000 pounds of curb weight. Stick with the proper lifting points people don't risk major damage just to save a few minutes of extra work doing it right lol

I jacked from here yesterday and it slipped, fell a couple inches and hit the oil release part. At first I thought it went through but just a small dent. Literally almost pissed myself. So scary. Worthwhile pausing and checking to see if it’s slipping I guess, it’s also possible we were a bit forward.

This is great, was wondering for a long time. Only thing I added was a piece of good between the jack and the car to minimize any damage, if any. Idk if it’s a good practice tho...

Increasing the surface area of the material contacting the metal should help minimize damage. Most round jack plates have 4 teeth that protrude up for extra "bite" and using a piece of wood (larger than the plate) helps take the teeth away from the metal and also increase the surface area resulting in less pounds per square inch.

Thanks for the info. Long ago, I was trying to get to it with my wheels on the ground as I did with my 3.6R and just couldn't reach it with the jack. You just confirmed that it is back enough that you need the car partially raised to get to it. A difficult reach.

I looked at that area and the oil drain plug is very close on my 2017. On top of that you obscure the jack point with the jack. I don’t recommend relying solely on this video if you are new to this like me.

In reply to my comment, the front center jack point is shown in the Subaru WRX technician service manual. I found the information in the General Specifications section under Notes NT

I just replaced the shift bushing just 1 hour ago, and I used this method only one tiny problem , after removing the jack and leaving the car on stands I noticed that plate curved in a little.

I noticed that too, even in this video. That plate looks deformed slightly around the jack plate. Using a piece of wood (2x6) with a larger surface area (5"x7") might minimize potential deformation.

Great video! Don’t be scarred by a little steering rack lifting! Honestly, your car sadly suffers MUCH worse potential damage by daily driving impacts than it ever will by a controlled lift and set-down by using the jack on that point, so no harm done there! 🤙🏻 I like your description of plastic ramps 1:13, as your using homemade wooden ramps. 💪🏻👍🏻 Experiences may vary, but I too own plastic ramps, yet prefer my homemade wooden ramps/cribbing blocks. Thanks for the info and keep up the great work! I hit the like button btw.

You still have the ramps on it. So you still can't reach with the floor jack. 🤔 front clip won't allow it. So, everyone get yourself some 2×12 lumber 45 the edges and fasten them together. Car ramps sold in stores won't work they need to be low pro ramps. Home made. This should have been mentioned in the video. Thanks for the video anyways.

Will the Rhino ramps have enough clearance for a 2015 STI? Stock height
@K03sport
@K03sport 2 жыл бұрын
@@furysactorslounge3956...you will need a 2x10/2x12, about 2' long too use in front of the rhino ramp. The 2x? Lifts the front up enough for the bumper to not scrape the ramp while you are trying to drive on it. It works for my 19 wrx base. Any front lip and low angle ramps are a better option....or a quick jack lifting system if you can swing it

+WRXNRAMEN Ryan's dad made them pretty sure he didn't source a video. Looks like he cut the angle on the front at 45 degrees for the tires to roll up on. Then the top board is about half the length of the bottom one.

You are not lifting the whole car. You are only lifting the front half. A jack capable of 4000 lb lift should be more than capable of lifting ~1700 lbs. Again, the jack is lifting only and not there to be a static support. Go slow and minimize jerkyness

This method is fast and easy except for one thing... How on earth are you supposed to lower the jack if the bar is sideways?? I have the low profile one from Pittsburg and although this method seems easier, I was stuck for a moment. The jack will only lower itself once the bar is vertical. I ended up taking the bar out and using pliers to turn the knob inside. Maybe my floor jack is too small? Otherwise this method is great!

Yes, I put a folded towel on the jack pad for some grip. Fold the small towel one time so its not too thick. I actually drove Bout 3 feet one time while the car was up by only the jack on this point and it stayed lol. Got lucky but its all good 🙄
