I don't suggest downgrading Python Edition calculators because that breaks Python programming. Using the jailbreak on OS 5.6.0 is the best situation currently for Python Editions.

It's still possible. You just have to either Archive your programs, or install a shell called Cesium which has a ton of backup features. It even let's you run ASM programs without needing arTIfiCE. Of course you'll need arTIfiCE to install Cesium though.

Unrelated question: when I press alpha+variable button, it does a fraction, like doing math > num > n/d Is this normal? My calculator has always done it, but no one else in my class can do that, and my younger sister just bought one for her class (os 5.5) and hers doesn't do it either, so I assume it's not just a newer feature or anything.

Thank you! Sadly, the tool can't edit the catalog to enable Asm84CEPrgm. It can only run programs with that token already inside it. That keypad shortcut has been a feature since OS 5.3.0 (it's only on the TI-84 Plus CE). Unless all those calculators are very outdated, it should work on them. It works on OS 5.6.0 for me so it should function on lower OS versions as well. I have no idea why it's not working on those other calculators.

According to TI: installing games voids your warranty. Guess what? It's impossible for them to know or find out. Games can't damage the calculator at all and the storage can always be cleared which deletes them. Every program whether it's a game or not has an equal chance of crashing. Games won't void your staples warranty because staples isn't absurdly trying to ban something thats perfectly safe.

Artifice doesn't come with games pre-installed. Also, you don't even need artifice on OS versions Lower than 5.5.0 . You can just run them directly from the program menu.

Yesterday I stupidly upgraded my TI-84 Plus CE-T to the newest OS 5.7... Now I regret doing that and tried to download the Jailbreak. As soon as I run artifice the artifice screen pops up but ist loading the whole time so i cant do anything except exit. Can someone help pls ?

Artifice only lists assembly programs. You'll have to send some programs over before artifice displays them.

None of these are working for me for some reason. Jailbreaking didn't work because when I tried to open Artifice/CabriJr, it just took me to a page that said I could either press enter to run, or mode to quit. None of the buttons on the calculator would work unless I pressed mode, which would quit the application. Cesium didn't work either, it just gave me the error screen. I'm running on a mac and with a python edition calculator. Advice? (I had cleared the calculator's memory before doing all of this in order to increase file space, maybe this has something to do with it?)

Artifice will only display assembly programs sent to the calculator. Did you run artifice after you sent over Cesium?

I tried to downgrade from 5.4.0 to 5.3.0 but when I use CERMASTER it doesn't let me edit it. I am on a 84 CE. No delete option, no default option, when I try to press + or - or when I try to press the left and right arrows it does nothing. Is this part of cermaster now or is it my calculator, and is there a solution to this?

Yes you can easily delete them permanently. Just go to the memory management menu with [2nd]>[+]>[2]>[1] then press [del] on the files you want to delete.

I know this sounds cliché, but it's not a bug; it's a feature. Ths was done by design because of increasing pressure from teachers not knowing their tuchus from their elbow when it comes to an exploit that was fixed long ago, but they seem to think it never was, and TI caved, nonetheless. They're not fixing it; this is the new normal for Graphing calculators.

I don't understand the problem. 3014K means you have 3,014,000 bytes of storage free. That's enough for any game (except some Gameboy games).

That's just an issue with the camera not recording the display correctly. It's actually Grey like normal.

Unfortunately, there's no external storage program yet. I think, if you delete every single file off your calculator, you might be able to fit that game but it will be really tight fit. I do like your honesty and that's a hilarious story! Poor teacher obviously hasn't had much training with calculators.

Well, the calculator has about 2.5mb of free storage if everything is deleted. If my quick math is right, once TI-boy is installed it should leave just enough space for a 2mb game. I suppose if you've already tried it and it didn't work then my math was obviously wrong. Maybe you can try storing a file or two in the RAM and get away with it.

Did you download and send anything else to your calculator? Artifice only runs programs you have installed, it does not come bundled with anything.

It won't affect normal mathematical use. Artifice just won't run programs written in TI-BASIC which is a programming language. TI hasn't removed the ability to run TI-Basic games, only games written in Assembly. Downgrading likely doesn't work unless your calculator is 3+ years old.

When it's frozen, does it quit if you press [mode]? If so, then you just don't have any assembly programs on the calculator. You'll need to download some before artifice displays them.

Also, do you know how many subversions of 5.4 there are? Example: 5.4.0. *0034*

You can find more here: education.ti.com/en/software/search/ti-84-plus-ce There's only one public version of 5.4.0 the 0034 represents how many times it was re-built in TI's internal testing. There is technically 5.4.1 but it's only an emulator OS and doesn't work properly on a physical calculator (some apps just wont run).

That's not from Cesium. OS 5.4.0 blocks the Asm84CEPrgm token. You'll need to use OS 5.3.0 if you want the token back.

You'll need to use an older version which I believe is linked in the description. However, if that version freezes, then your calculator is just too new and cannot be downgraded. You're stuck with using Artifice or Cesium to run games.

That's unusual. Try pressing and holding the reset button on the back of the calculator for at least two seconds. Re-send cesium to the calculator and try installing it again using Artifice.

I am on a Ti 84 plus ce python version and downloaded cesium but when I go to programs it brings up TI-Basic and Python App, when I choose TI-Basic cesium is listed under it but when I press enter on it I get an error pls help

You need to move it from the zip folder to some place like your desktop first. Then move the file from the desktop to TI Connect CE

Asmhook let's you run ASM program directly from the built-in program menu. Cesium let's you run programs from its custom menu. Cesium does not let you run ASM programs from the built in menu.

If you're new to this then don't sweat it. Just get what you can afford and if you end up not needing to jailbreak, great! If you need to jailbreak then that's fine, there's several tutorials now to help you with that. I would go for a new one if your budget allows because you're guaranteed to get faster hardware and Python. But if you get an older one without these features then you're not missing out on any math functions which is the most important part.

Is there a list of programs displayed? Can you quit arTIfiCE with [mode] or do you have to press the reset button? Exactly what calculator do you have? What's your BASE and BOOT code (press [mode]>[alpha]>[ln])? What's the date code on the back of the calculator? It should look something like L-0519M.

Artifice will only display Assembly games. You can send games over the same way you did Artifice. Ticalc.org and cemetech.net have a lot of great games

Hello, I loved this video although I am coming across one issue in the jailbreaking section of this. I did everything as instructed, but without exception each time I run arTIfiCE, it gets stuck in a loading screen that never ends. Does anyone know how to fix this?

You need to install each program separately. Artifice doesn't come with games pre-installed.

is there no fix for 5.6 or higher. When I jail breaked it I can play games but it wont lemme run programs like AP Chem when I checked through calcplex it said the type of program is locked

That's an issue unrelated to the jailbreak. The program is likely not compatible with your calculator. 'locked' just means the program is edit-locked. If it's a BASIC program then you can unlock it using Cesium which has all the features Calcplex removed.

Yes it Artifice works on the latest OS. I said I don't suggest *downgrading* Python Editions. Jailbreaking is completely separate and totally fine. The Jailbreak really just let's you run programs so it will never mess with any calculations. Nothing I've shown will mess up calculations.

A TI-84 Plus CE Python Edition is exactly the same as a regular TI-84 Plus CE except the Python Edition just has an extra app that let's you write programs in Python. Jailbreaking does not change your OS version. All it does is let you run programs. To downgrade you need to intentionally run a specific program that will unlock the ability to install older OS versions.

@@cheifhad1260 Well there's your problem, the jailbreak isn't necessary on the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition. It's a completely different calculator and still has ASM capabilities.

There's definitely a solution, I just need to troubleshoot a bit more. You can't just delete the update, TI has put a lot of effort into making it so you can't. That's what arTIfiCE is for, to get around those absurd restrictions. So, let me get this straight. The label at the top of your calculator just says "TI-84 Plus CE" right? Also, every time you open arTIfiCE, the calculator freezes? Can you press [mode]>[alpha]>[ln] and tell me your BASE and BOOT code?

You can run programs without the jailbreak and you can write snippets of assembly code to do things like enable lowercase letters. It also let's you change the name of your calculator.

That didn't happen before? The jailbreak doesn't actually change anything about the calculator so something else is the matter. Check there's no debris in the USB port or cable. You can also try pressing and holding the reset button on the back of the calculator for at least two seconds. Let me know if those don't work.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned in the video, the downgrade tool isn't updated to work on the latest OS. I do not know when it will be updated so you'll just have to use arTIfiCE to run all your programs.

Ok did artifice successfully send to the calculator? You have to install it separately from cabri Jr. You can press 2nd then + then 2 then scroll down and select 'appvars' and see if artifice is on the list. If it's not, then it's not on the calculator.

Hi, I am extremely confused on how to download the latest version of cesium, because every time I attempt to run the cesium from www.cemetech.net/downloads/files/1372/x2292 it keeps showing "Cannot use this OS". And when I tried installing the version from Mateo's Github, I had no idea which file to use from the zip, as TI Connect CE would not recognize them 😭 Please help if you're still checking the replies 🏳

Most likely no. However it doesn't hurt to try. Just back up any programs you want to keep. The worst that could happen is a RAM reset.

I couldn't downgrade my OS (5.6.0) with the steps shown in the video because I believe my calculator is a newer one. It wouldn't allow me to change line 37 in CERMASTR to 00 00 05, it would just reset the RAM. However, I found a way to downgrade. First, you download arTifiCE as shown in the video Second, you download this OS downgrade tool: tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=1398736 (seemed shady at first but worked) Third, run arTifiCE from the CabriJr App and run DWN83PCE (downgrade tool) Finally, install your preferred OS (I chose 5.3.0) I found this method because at first I tried running DWN83PCE without arTifiCE and it would give me an error message, so I downloaded arTifiCE and ran it and it worked. Cermastr 3.0was updated to remove downgrading after I released this video. If you use an older version (2.0) you may still be able to downgrade. Edit: Looks like 2.0 isn't around anymore. I'll have to find my backup.

No, when you reset the calculator, there's a bit of information that's never cleared called the Certificate. This keeps track of things like what language you chose, whether the calculator is in Exam Mode, and also the minimum OS version it will accept. There's a tool that can edit the certificate called CERMASTR but it's not updated to work on the newest calculators.
