Hi Adam, thanks for the feedback. The aim of these videos is to simply provide the key steps on installation for those who are not familiar with the products. While some installations may be easier in practice, and some harder, we hope that this video illustrates what you need to do to securely connect rural class B poly pipe using the Philmac range of Australian made rural compression fittings.

So how do you pull out the insert from the poly pipe? I have not found an easy way. Any ideas how to make this easier? Thanks in advance.

I find using a heatgun if you have power or a thermos of hot water to make the pipe malleable and then using pliers to pull it. Keep in mind of course, this destroys the insert unless you're really gentle with it..

Stupid question... Is there an elbow connector version?

LOL. Farmers would never have known it was a rural fitting if it wasn't filmed over a bucket of dirt.

Gavin Fielke looks like a metropolitan fitting to me. In my experience a rural fitting is usually in a hole full of mud and the pipe is still pissing out at full pressure 😅

What length to cut, if one wants to fix a leak with a single joiner ?
@theone81892 жыл бұрын
I did it with 3mm cut of the leaky section.

Assemble the fitting and tighten both nuts as far as you can, and then remove the nuts and collars, leaving the inserts locked in place. Then measure the distance from one pipe stop/shoulder on one insert, to the pipe stop/shoulder on the other. That's the amount of pipe you need to remove to install the fitting, but best to leave yourself an extra couple or few millimetres, better to leave the pipe/s too long than too short.

They don't make this type of fitting in 2024 and using what you get now during hot weather the pipe expands so it will shrink in cold causing leaks.

Bullshit! I have two pipes which are underground that need joining, how on Earth do I just pull one pipe up to make the joint when both ends have 30m of dirt on top of them? You even intimate that this is an underground fix by having a patch of dirt in the video. How about show a proper, in the field, fix of a ruptured pipe that needs re joining.
@TauCu3 жыл бұрын
If you cut youself short you'll have to use two. just measure the length of the core of the joiner minus how far the inserts go in and account for the length of section of the inserts that don't mate with your pipe or the core. Cut it at the correct length and manhandle it a bit.

you need to go buy yourself a shovel and pick axe capt. obvious.

Yeah. . . . . . . cause the pipe just magically pulls through the ground like that. NOT. Might as well have done it on a counter top.
