Great tips for gluing, filling and finishing to make the grain and the line blend and disappear! For those who may not have a perfectly-aligned table saw blade, I think making the first cut, sliding the piece to the side and making the second cut, would keep any slightly-not-square blade angle the same for both cuts. Flipping it around would double any error in the blade angle. Also, cutting it face down would give a smoother cut on the face, with less tear-out from any blade dullness. For those who need to join it without a biscuit joiner (which registered its cut depth off of the face here), gluing it back together face down would register the more visible face surface off of the flatness of the bench.

Why did you use the automotive primer then use the bullseye primer?
@paulstoolbox5 жыл бұрын
Hi Rodney, I could have used either one by themself but the automotive primer is very thin and it allows me to see any imperfections before I paint. The Bullseye primer is much thicker and the bright white makes it harder for me to see any imperfections..... I'm getting old and my eyes are going south :LOL. Thanks!

Great video that explains clearly how to do it. I’ve also done the same to resize a radiator cover. I also found that When filling that joint on the face, instead of dragging the blade parallel to the cut try doing at 45 degrees to the cut line. That way the blade stays referenced to the wood surface, won’t dip into any grove and drag the filler out, similar to how tilers grout tile joints. It take less filling passes I found.

Wow! Amazing woodwork Paul! I wish I watch you just a day earlier, but I can use your technique on a second 47" cabinet door. I have to cut and combined 3 small doors together to get a long door to utilize it's existing profile. I couldn't line up perfectly because I drilled 3 holes in each side and insert 1/4" Wooden dowels.

I have to do the same job but the middle panel is only 1/4".
@paulstoolbox5 жыл бұрын
Good morning Hue, In that case, you could cut it across the seam at the top or bottom leaving the seam line and your flat panel should slide out. You can cut the section out and recut the center panel. Is your door a shaker ( Square design) or does it have a colonial profile ( routed design)? Thanks!
@huejanus55052 жыл бұрын
@@paulstoolbox Sorry for the late reply. Colonial profile. I ended up cutting the bottom off the doors at the right length, split the bottom rail in two and glued the front and back piece of that rail back on. I glued the 1/4” center panel back in, all around, it was just pinned with 4 small brads. Doors are solid as heck, and look untouched. I recently repaired three turned pine posts on my front balcony, the flat bottom sections, using the method you use to repair fascias. It never dawned on me to use bondo to get those joints perfect. Love your videos, unlike most on KZbin, yours have real world applications and you do a great job simplifying the process. Btw, those 3 posts look flawless and new ones cost $328. a pop. $20 worth of pine and a small can of bondo was much easier on the wallet.

Good tips. But man, this is time consuming.
@paulstoolbox5 жыл бұрын
Not really Simon, the only thing that took time was waiting for the wood glue to dry before using spot putty. This method can be used on many different projects, not just doors. I could have just ordered new doors but they would probably look a little different. It is hard to get a perfect match for existing doors. When refacing a kitchen people pick out a door from samples.

Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out. Look for signs that you are saved. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!!!!!

Very enjoyable. Always find your videos educational. I know from time to time you plug ladders and what not, but always in the context of the project your doing. I subscribed to the American Builder and to be honest I have been disappointed. Educational content is weak, It seems more like a channel of infomercials. I know you have a business relationship with Brian. I just hope it doesn't change your channel. I just wanted to let you know why I'm unsubscribing from American Builder. It's nothing personal with you. I gave it a good try.
@paulstoolbox5 жыл бұрын
Hey Brian, I will continue to keep my channel up but I will also be a regular on the American Builder show. Brian Gurry and I discuss things on a daily basis, we want to add more projects to the American Builder show but we have to be careful not to change things too much at one time. He won 5 Emmy's with his platform so we have to be careful but we will incorporate more education while keeping it fun and real. Brian has more commercial experience than you could imagine, he always has huge jobs going on and it will give us the opportunity to add more of my style of content. It's funny how different TV and KZbin are, Brian is the 1st. TV celebrity to take a chance and work with a KZbin Creator and I am grateful for that. Don't give up yet, we have a lot of new things coming. As for me, I get companies asking me to show their products an a weekly basis, I tell them up front that I only show tools and products if they work and I like them. If I wouldn't buy it I wouldn't ask you to buy it. I really appreciate you're honesty and especially following me, I will do my best not to dissapoint you. Thanks!
