Jumpstarting your vehicle correctly is incredibly important to avoid causing any unnecessary damage. Locate the correct positive terminal and negative earth for your vehicle, whether that’s a Transit, Transit Custom, Transit Connect or Ranger.
1. Open the bonnet
2. Correctly locate the positive and negative battery terminals depending on your vehicle
3. Attach the positive end of your jump cable to the positive terminal
4. Attach the negative end of your jump cable to the negative terminal
5. Start your support vehicle or power supply and run for a few minutes
6. Start your vehicle and you should be good to go

Welcome to 'How It Works'. In this episode we’ll be showing you how to jumpstart your vehicle correctly,
should you accidentally run your battery flat.
Firstly, open the bonnet… Next, locate the positive and negative battery terminals and attach the positive end of your jump cable to the positive battery post...then the negative end to the negative earth.
This is where they are located on the Transit Connect.
For Ranger they can be found here...and here.
For Transit Custom here...and here.
And for Transit here...and here.
It is incredibly important to connect to the correct areas or you could risk damaging your vehicle.
For the Transit and Transit Custom there are also stickers in the engine bay to help you.
Once your cables are connected properly, start your support vehicle or turn on your power supply and let it run for a few minutes.
Then, start your vehicle...and you should be good to go.
