Beginner here with a tip I learned the hard way: When using that tracing method, do be sure to try and keep your lines clean, or at least not super sketchy where the exact shapes are not entirely clear. Trying to make an inbetween of two super rough shapes makes it very hard to determine where to place the new lines, and creates a shape that changes throughout the frames While sketching it out helps get the feel at times, do practice at sketching with longer lines than chicken scratching the whole thing with thick brush sizes
@Broeckchen2 жыл бұрын
I think I needed to hear this because it made me wince and grimace. Which means I probably do it too much. >n

I’m REALLY new to animation I got into it to pass time in quarantine and it’s really fun, I keep drawing to many inbetweens, and I feel like I don’t know how many frames to draw per scene, any tips?
@lunab5414 жыл бұрын
The secret is learning about timing and spacing. The space between the drawings defines if the character or object is moving slower or faster. The time it takes between one drawing and another will define how long the action lasts. There are free videos on YT talking about the 12 fundamentals of animation, and timing and spacing are among them. By knowing these basics you'll start to have an idea of how many drawings will be needed. Keep practicing! Glad to know more people are taking up animation this quarantine, let's all have fun!

I have a question I been seeking for awhile I just don't know how to look for the answer, in a lot of animation roughs you can see the animator has left a aspects out, like a arm moving or a head turn, but they draw the rest. is this because they don't need to animate that or they can leave that for the in between animators? Im just looking for clarification.

This was actually the very first question when I sat down to draw my first rough sketch for my very first animation. I drew a pose 1 and then wanted to do keyframe sketch 2 where the person had moved quite a bit on the canvas and I was like: "Wait... how in the world do animators prevent a person from unintended shifting in size or overall shape between far spaced out keys??? IT'S IMPOSSIBLE!" Thx for that excellent video. In case someone wants to use CSP: Use the "Light table" for inbetweening. You can turn/move/scale there w/o changing your actual frames just like he explained for other tools.

I'm not sure if my question belongs on this particular video or not but here I go... Just to make clear I am a fan of Anime so I'm trying to keep with that style. I always had a problem with trying to find what frames are important to actually make into a keyframe. Not like the simple stuff such as the blinking of an eye or the subtle breathing of a chest. Even a wave is easy to me: Lift the arm and then a few frames for waving. but other movements like a girl flicking her hair to one side is tough. (when i still think it should be simple enough to animate) Then, there are sometimes where, if I make keyframes and for some god awful reason, I can't bridge them properly or make a convincing inbetween. Then I get stuck cause I'm not sure what it is I'm doing wrong. I heard that two or three keyframes should be enough to at least convey what small action a character is doing. At this rate, I have no clue anymore. Could it be my mindset? am I focusing on something I don't need to focus on?
