How to Keep Your Bees Alive This Winter

Hello 👋 First time viewer here. Hope your bees get through this crazy weather we're having!! If I may make a few small suggestions:?? Your smoker isn't just meant to be hot smoked, cool smoke will work out for you much better. Hot smoke can be the complete opposite in this case. The cool particle rich smoke is what blocks the bees communication method. Also slowww down. Bees process movement incredibly more rapidly than us humans. So instead of removing hive cover quickly, moving hands quickly, even leaning over hive body repeatedly will cause bees to be energized by these things... Again, first time viewer (so I could be way off here..) so I'm not calling you into question. You might be more commercial get them done minded.? No worries, just an observation. Appreciate the tips! I'll definitely try to slow down(although I’m a fast paced individual 😂). You should see me when I’m doing a removal! Anyway I'm always looking for ways to improve my beekeeping so thank you!

@@TheHomesteadingAvenger hahaha, I get it, it's a fast paced world we live in! That's why I love the art of beekeeping. We don't always get to bee (lol) that kind of keeper. Soo at the very least its cool to understand the situation & the reasons why they get mad at us 😅.

yes, the weather is full of crazy swings. now here in KY we had freezing rain and lightning storms at same time and now temps below 30 degrees for a week. my hives have high population so I hope they make it through well
