I assume you need to have some filtration system in place for these products to be of use? I currently just add ice and change the water once a week, but I’m looking for a less time-consuming approach.

Hey there and thank you for your video! - I just set up my plunge and I have to work the sanitation part as I have the filtration set up already, what is the best practice to use these products, weekly, daily or after every plunge? I have a 100 gallon rubbermaid using about 75 gallons of water, how much peroxide would you recommend? Thank you again!
@Recovatech
@Recovatech Ай бұрын
Jose, for the initial treatment, just follow the instructions on the bottles and factor for the 75 gallons. For instance, the Sanitizer directions say 1oz for every 150 gallons. So in your case, just add 1/2oz. After that, it's a good idea to buy the Sirona test strips to determine how much you need to add, otherwise you're just guessing. Less is more for sure! As for the peroxide, I use 3% and so for the initial I add about 1/2 cup. After that, I'll just throw in about a capful after each plunge. Peroxide degrades down into water after a couple hours, so it's a little bit more forgiving.

Hi. Thank you for your video. Just ordered the products. Question: I have a simple inflatable cold plunge tub and looking for an inexpensive way to filter. Is there a submersible filter you recommend for my situation? Also what brand is the small aquarium pump you mention in your circulation segment? Thank you. Newbie here, learning bit by bit.

@@akalinda2007 that aquarium pump is totally not necessary. I happen to have an extra that came with the water chiller and throw it in for extra circulation of the water. If it's something you want, you can find them on Amazon for pretty cheap. amzn.to/3W1Zcyj

So the day after adding Sirona sanitizer and oxodizer...I now have foam on the surface of the water. The test strips confirm OK levels of everything. Thoughts?
@Recovatech
@Recovatech Ай бұрын
Foam is normally an indicator of too much organic material in the water, like body oils etc. The Sirona Clarifier is meant to break that stuff down.
@Steveperlmaster
@Steveperlmaster 9 ай бұрын
So to clarify, you’re basically adding half an ounce of each Sirona product every water change, as well as half a cup of peroxide. Then after each plunge, a capful of peroxide. Is that right?
@Recovatech
@Recovatech 9 ай бұрын
The sanitizer is 1 ounce for every 500 gallons. So let's say your plunge is 100 gallons. 1 ounce = 30ml or in other words 6ml for every 100 gallons (this is why I recommend a syringe). The Ice Barrel isn't quite 100 gallons, but I did add 6ml initially, let it circulate for about 10 minutes, and then tested with the test strips. All good. Periodic checks will let you know when to add more. For the clarifier, same thing, just followed the instructions on the bottle. And yeah, for the Peroxide, I added about 1/2 a cup to start and just a small capful after every use. That might be too much, once a week would probably work.

JUST EMPTY THE WATER OUT ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS, ADD HYDROGEN PEROXIDE AFTER YOU FILL IT WITH FRESH WATER AND THAT'S IT, NO NEED FOR ANYTHING ELSE, REPEAT EVERY TWO WEEKS, DRAIN IT, FILL IT, ADD PEROXIDE, SIMPLE, NO NEED FOR ANYTHING ELSE

i have the aqua chiller 1 hp amd an activr aqua submersible pump. my pump is always on and circulates the water really well. i have 1” tubes. why does your pump not stay on and/or circulate sufficiently to not need the aquarium pump
@Recovatech
@Recovatech Ай бұрын
Great question! As I mention, that extra pump comes with the chiller for free and it’s 100% not necessary. Since the water flows into the top of the barrel, I’ll sometimes toss it in to the bottom just to agitate any sediment or grass that might be lingering down there. Seems to help push it into the exit hole and into the filter.

@Recovatech

That aquarium pump I use to circulate the water inside the barrel is 400gph. Again, it's a super cheap pump and really not all that necessary. To circulate the water through the chiller, that's something like 800-1000gph.

What PPM do you want the water to read when testing the hydrogen peroxide?
@Recovatech
@Recovatech Ай бұрын
Sooooo, long explanation short, I don't pay much attention to the Peroxide. Since I use 3%, it's already pretty diluted and I only add a capful after each use. No irritation or issues to date. I've read that the PPM for peroxide should be around 300-500. I use the Sirona test strips for the other products and I'm very careful about that.
@therealfastmart
@therealfastmart Ай бұрын
@@Recovatech the sirona test strip for the oxodizer says ideal is 30-50 ppm and that's where I get confused bc a lot of others say 100 or so
@Recovatech
@Recovatech Ай бұрын
@@therealfastmart if I'm not mistaken the 30-50PPM is for the sanitizer, not the oxidizer. Hydrogen Peroxide is effective at killing microbes, but it does slowly degrades and turns into water in a few hours. That's why there are no testing instructions on Sirona's Oxidizer product, which is 7.5% Peroxide. I basically took the the instructions from the back of their bottle and converted it down for the 3% and add that every time...which amounts to about a capful of the product I use. I hope that's helpful info!
