Woohoo! Your fabric softener sheet worked on my almost new iron. I was ironing the back of a shirt I had machine embroidered - and it left the hardest residue on my iron - which would no longer glide on anything. I quit using the iron for several months and figured I had wasted a LOT of money on it - everything I tried did nothing to remove the residue. The softener sheet did leave a "stain" on my new ironing board pad - but I know it will wash out. Thank you!

my Iron slipped over the edge, I caught it quickly, but not before it hit the plastic on a fq bundle.shoooot!!! I do hope the dryer sheet works. Thanks! Merry Christmas.

Thanks so much for your generous donation and support. I really appreciate it. I do hope that you are able to get the plastic off the bottom of your iron with this method, although I've never tried to remove plastic only fusible web and such.

The dryer sheets worked great. I used 3 in total, first one took some, but rolled the majority, which made the second sheet pick it up. I used a third sheet only to be sure it was all gone. One thing, the iron needs to be on med heat for a min then unplug it. My Rowenta 1750 was still hot even after the three sheets and the paper towels. wow I love my iron. thanks again

After partially breaking my steam iron (from the 80's), I decided to use my older 1950-1960 irons that I have collected. So far the non-steam iron is the best. In the past I have used a paste of vinegar and baking soda in a shallow pan (spritzing with vinegar until the plate was clean. I found worked great for the older iron, though not for the newer one. This paste works on ovens also. Unfortunately, the Dritz cleaner is the only thing I have found that will really clean newer irons. I have a metal clip on the newer iron and it works well.

I was cleaning my iron the other day with the dritz iron cleaner, I set off the fire alarm, and the fire dept was at my house in 10 minutes. Next time I’ll do it outside. Anyhow, thanks for this video, as usual I did learn something.

I had used a Bounce sheet before, but did it the other day (hot iron) and it made a large brown stain on my ironing board cover and didn’t clean the iron at all. It was a new sheet - maybe a used one would be better.

Yikes! I've never had that happen. I use new sheets and put them on the pressing surface and just move the iron around for a few seconds. Perhaps you had it on the Bounce sheet for too long?

I have a new modern steamiron. But i do not use it anymore with water. I am not happy, a brown dust, fluffy stuff, comes out of the holes and the sides. (At least not muddy with water.) How can i prevent this? What to do? Wil
@Chatterboxquilts Жыл бұрын
Not sure why this is happening but I know that on my steam irons, there is usually a button or tab that you can press down to clear the water out of it. You might want to try filling it with water and turning it on, then turning it off and try emptying it using that button - if you have that type of iron.

Txs for your answer. The waterbutton has no positive effect. By the way i have a Philips iron. May be the dust is attracted out of the room by the heat of the iron.
