Honestly, this is very stressful for me. I always want my rubber band ball to be perfectly round, sometimes i look at it and it looks weird or something. Even though i know its actually round. And im always worried that the way i add the bands will somehow cause it to be no longer round.

You can use wider rubber bands on huge rubber balls to fasten up the job on covering the pits and voids on the rubber ball.

I have 25 lb ball. I was just doing some maintenance on it yesterday. It's about 25 years old too. I was thinking of pushing it up a little. My preferred bands right now are 7 x 1/8 inch bands. I was wondering if you have a bulk supplier that you're using? I've looked on Amazon and ebay but I'm not finding much better deals than Staples and Office Depot. Do you have any advice? Thanks

No. I thought maybe somebody would at least answer a simple question. I have asked several ball builders and none have bothered to share. Big secret I guess. I found these in black and green (below). I don't think I've ever used non latex before but if they last longer I'm down with it. I could make some cool designs with black and green for now. I get bored quick though. I would like to punch it up to 50 lbs. and then maybe go for 100 lbs. I know I'm going to have to go with larger bands if I want to start packing on the pounds though. It depends on what you value. If it's just the rubber bands alone, maybe $1500-$2000. If you count the endless hours of labor and the artistry of making it perfect, then it's almost priceless.

Photo314159 The bi-colored bands should make getting a even layer easier by simply covering up the underlying cover. I've used EPDM bands in the past for holding file folders together. They're the same for all intents and purposes, however, EPDM does not react well to petroleum based products so using a non-water based clear for protection from oxidation is out. Another thing I have found is that the lower quality "economy" bands have a higher density because of the fillers they use. They're not as nice to work with, but they would contribute more mass per band if density is your goal.

You can't put any bands over the pointed or long end for awhile. Keep covering up the lowest areas and it should round out. Always be covering the lowest spots.
