@0:40 The kicker should have swung his right arm past his right thigh. Yet the instructor praised him "Very good".
@4PillarsMMA2 ай бұрын
True. In Thailand I was taught to swing the arm. In American mma I was taught to keep the arm up to protect yourself. So since this is this person’s first time doing anything like this I chose to say good job and boost their confidence. As an instructor you have to balance criticism with confidence building or you shut down the mind’s ability to retain information.

@@4PillarsMMA The title of this clip "How To Kick In Muay Thai"! You should change the title to "How To Kick In MMA".

You know what? That is the first solid comment that was *constructive criticism I have got on this channel. I will do that. Great idea.

@4PillarsMMA what do you mean people like me 🤔, just kidding bro , no one is perfect and we must all try to stay on the right path and do our best to better our shelves everyday , that's what martial art means to mean not just fighting 💪😎

I 100% agree. We should be a global family of people helping to improve each other. Hopefully my channel can help make that future more a reality.

Please don't let this guy cook again. I know new people cannot recognize if the trainer is competent, so they need to be alarmed.

Thanks buddy. When you become a teacher I would love to learn from you and see how I can improve my classes.

@@4PillarsMMA I am a coach, so I can understand the teacher's competence. I like your passion, and I can see that you have a dream. But why not improve yourself and your technique? You can hire a more experienced coach in the meantime. Your technique is wrong when you do it yourself. Your teaching has potential, and it obviously brings you joy, which is one of the main pillars of a good coach. If you ask me what you did wrong in the video after this comment, you should not be teaching people.

You and I have a different approach. I know I can always grow and learn from others. While I know what and how I taught the class I was teaching was perfect for the people in the class and their experience, I am not egotistical enough to assume I am perfect and can not listen to other people’s feedback. I need to break down techniques in a way that is easily digestible for new people. Then once they have the base I can come in later and cut down on the places that need fine tuning. If I over load with perfect form on day one it will be too much to chew for most day one practitioners.
