So you get a massive hive infestation in your Rimworld game and don't want to get loads of injuries on your colony well here is how. I show you how to do it here in this Rimworld Guide....

The game doesn't take oxygen into account inside closed spaces? I think that if it did, this method would be even better because the fires would die out before they could destroy all of the loot but the aliens would still die of suffocation.

Rimworld is a very detailed game. But it's not THAT detailed as to take account oxygen. You'd have to hard code it in to not only apply to fires but also to plants, humans, and animals.

There are several components to reducing hives at home . One resource I found that successfully combines these is the Karas Hives Remedy (check it out on google) without a doubt the most incredible blueprint that I have ever seen. Check out the unbelievable information .

if you have an open chamber you can't fill up, replace the floors with wood and set down a fire IED. Make sure any 1 wall areas are reinforced and the infestation will deal with itself.

interesting, I had a similar idea on Alpha 13, I had a few small rooms under a mountain, and I built 3 heaters, set them on very hot and flicked a switch to turn them off until I needed them. When the infestation hit I turned them on and forbade the doors, sadly, just as the bugs were starting to get hot they attacked the outer wall and a fight was inevitable. I didn't try again, I thought they broke out on purpose, guess it was just bad luck :D

2 out of 10, you got the job done and didn't lost people, but you managed to lose all loot, making this whole thing more or less pointless. You can build a small room on the side, put wooden tabels in it and a vent and burn that. This way you can cook them alive without so much fire near the loot. Once they drop, remove the cave door and put out the fires. Just freezing them out also works great. I had infestations kill themself because of a hard winter and the cave had no door.

Had the same issue with a ton of bugs after opening some sarcophagi but I couldn't set anything on fire, so I just let them starve and brought out their corpses so the remaining aliens wouldn't eat those

I saw the temp go up to 2000c, at that point the entire room would be lava because the walls would of melted

I think they patched this. now if they get too hot or cold they will start attacking. I had a infestation twice as bad as this, Literally hundreds of them, no miniguns and turrets cam solve it. so I tried this method and manage to keep them containted by building a great wall with fire mines(they work really well).they manage to chew through around 20 layers but what's interesting is that their attacks some time suddenly stop for a while for no reason. it's cool to see all those suckas get heat strokes

Welp, I kinda let a bug infestation ignored while I was building my base and now it has 32 hives and they destroyed the mountain around it so I can't enclose it... I'm building a mortar right now and I hope some incendiary shots will still take care of it

this doesn`t work anymore, at least not as good, they will get in an alert state and start digging towards the outside, so now you need to wall off their path outside so the digging takes longer (2 layers of lime or something). I usually build a little room next to the entrance (with 2 doors) fill it with wood stools or whatever burns, set that on fire and let it do it`s work, buy the time they might get out you can easily finish them off

Here is what I do mine around them and enclose them in walls then I just place some coolers turn them so the hot side is facing inside set the temperature to 100 and I let them cook to death slow but fun to watch them panic

But then you waste all the awesome goodies inside. I just make a fortification outside and have one guy open the door and lure some out. Some deadfalls and traps if they break down the door.

It'd probably involve creating a kill box outside of their area and every few days (weeks?) drawing them all out into it, killing them, collecting their jelly and then letting them repopulate to do it again.

Linkolnverse then weigh the risks vs rewards. Hives can wipe you out with ease if you slip up our can't deal with the assault. So be ready for the fight...or try the freezing method. Kill them with coolers three clear the hives out.

Build a bunch of coolers in a room attached to your base and crank them to a ridiculously low temperature, remove the block separating the inside of the base from the coolers, turn the coolers on, and freeze the bastards.

Well if it is enclosed, Just build a small room outside it, place 5 coolers in small room. crank them below zero, then remove one block from infested room and run away. they all freeze and you dont loose any resources or kill the enhanced humans from cryosleep chambers.

Door only partially vents it so no, you can have a 500 C room with an open door and it will stay at like 200-300 given enough heat is produced (from burning shit or a heater)

Build another room adjacent, fill it with wooden tables. Then force the door leading into the bug room to stay open, light the tables on fire, then close the external door. Temperature rises to 800 degrees, all the bugs die, but the loot remains.

You can even dig a tunnel like a pipe U-bend or just a really long tunnel, place a critical zone that only takes wood, allow it to fill up with several colonists assigned as haulers and then manually throw a Molotov on the pile. There's no risk of attack in that instance.

Wait a bloody second. Infestations only spawn under mountain overhead roofing. Keep mining to make the mountain cave in and you cannot get spawns for those bloody buggers. Keep away from the tiles falling down though. Might want to make everyone stay in the designated home areas and clear/ban people from walking under the cave ins. That way you get a nice view of the sky and still have a mountain homestead.

Why even build under a mountain at that point? The whole point of Cave Dwelling is that mountains are immune to artillery.

TIP: Once the insects are dead, click the door and set it to be held open, then have a colonist walk into the door and back out as fast as possible to allow the heat to die down, possibly saving loot.

fine hint....got a suscriber! Well actually i have a big cave where i do mining.And just a slight modification - i put in there like 4-5 heaters or torches and some wood walls ,which i do burn.I rise the temperaturne to extreme - done.Only thing still to do - kill hives. before i've got hell of a trouble to agro/kite groups of them (divide and conquer).Took me about 3 days to clean up - 3 days of production lost.
