I’d had narrowing some cowls I find them too wide too!

WIth your socks...HOW did you get the heel in? I am doing toe up socks with 4 colors...I can't work out what to do with the strands that will be hanging out on the heel side? Do I make note of what stitch number the yarn is, and cut? Then reattach after the heel? I've been looking all over the internet and can't find HOW to do this! Thanks in advance for any advice!

Thank you Barbara, for my sock I did my first row in contrasting colour (gray) and stopped 4 sts before the end of round, slipped them on my right needle and continue knitting using the main colour (green)
