Thanks Marly! Absolutely love this stitch pattern. My granddaughter wanted a simple scarf and this one is very portable and looks more complicated than it really is. Just wish I could learn now to flip those beautiful stitch markers like you do; I always wind up knitting mine in. lol. Have a great day and thank you for all your tutorials!

You are so right, Marly! Everybody loves the wonderful texture of this stitch! I learned it years ago as Mistaken Rib and Seeded Rib, and have used for hats/caps, scarves, shrugs, cowls, shawls, throws, etc. For those of us who prefer more knitting than purling, here's a very easy "nearly identical twin"! Cast on sets of 4 stitches, plus 1 more stitch; all rows are "Knit3, Purl1, end row with Knit1". Of course any edging/border stitches may be added as you work the piece, or afterwards.

Love the demos and easy way you execute the patterns. I knit a similar stitch which is much more simple and referred to as Mistake Rib. Multiple of 4 plus. 3. Every row starts K2 - P2 across the row ending K3. Repeat Row 1 until desired length. No markers needed. This has become my favorite stitch. Give it a try and you will be love it. Your loyal fan, Dolori

Hi Marly, Thank you so much for this so very easy to follow tutorial. Your explanations are always very clear and simple to understand which is not always easy to do on video so very well done! I just love watching you knit continental, especially the way you switch seamlessly from a knit to a purl, brilliant. I am a crocheter so holding the yarn in my left hand is natural to me but I am only just starting to knit (socks, would you believe!) and I am fumbling my way around holding that yarn! Is there any chance you would do a video tutorial on continental knitting? Or perhaps you have already? Please let me know? Kind regards.

Laura Forsyth jackie biggs I think any yarn that is a 4 in weight should be okay. Personally I think you could use this pattern with any size yarn and just adjust the number of stitches you need (multiples of 4 plus 3) and you should be fine.

Ok, so forgive the stupidity- On the very first row, on the right side, I knit 3 stitches then knit 2 purl 2 all the way out.. Then I turn it to the wrong/inside side and start k1 p2 then go into the pattern of k2 p2 all the way to the end. then just keep doing that, right? Sorry to ask, but you are so fast I can't track exactly what's happening and at 0.5 speed I am confused. Thank you.

Actually never mind-I think this is beyond me after several viewings.
@alexandraabraham66982 жыл бұрын
@@tamerawaltman4115 No, you're right in your description. I love Marly's videos, but I find her very "wordy" and in an effort to please all comers, she over-explains things, and her outline of using stitch-markers, a pin for the 1st side and knowing what stiches go where, is over-elaborate. Just do exactly as you describe. You won't go wrong. The pattern is most certainly not "Beyond you". You got it nailed.

When you are demonstrating a new or new-to-us-viewers stitch, could you slow it down to almost a crawl? You are so efficient that you move at near lightning speed, so no matter how many time I go back, *I can't see every move. :((*

Thank you for the feedback. I will do my best.
@marshafleming41654 жыл бұрын
#Marly Bird KZbin has an option that you can slow down the video but it also slows down the voice. I use it for the parts that I need a slow speed. Also when I want to do a screenshot. To change the speed - click on the gear then "playback speed" and pick what you want. Then when you want to go back to regular, do it again and pick "normal". Happy crafting.

@@br6480 I'm Italian, and have no idea why yarn-in-left-hand is called 'continental' and yarn-in-right-hand, English. I was taught to knit, in Italy, by my Italian grandmother. Yarn in right hand, right knitting needle under right arm (at the pit.) And many Italian women knitted this way.
