❤ thank you very much. I keep seeing people talk about neater edges and I think ok I’ll try that next time and I never actually do it. This video has come up as I am about to finish a project so perfectly timed to start my next one. Thank you for a great explanation, your videos are really awesome.

This is such a neat edging and so easy as well. I am knitting lap blankets for charity and can't wait to start with this edging. Thank you so much for your video. I love hearing the little bits you say about your country.

This is the most useful tip and easy to remember!♥️♥️♥️ I finished my potholder using this technique and my edges looks fantastic!!♥️😃 HOWEVER.... I have a question... ❓❓❓ Although my edges were beautiful, the last cast-off was wonky so I do have a question about how to finish the last row/cast-off row. When I was casting off, knitting the 2 stitches together at the end of the row looked wonky. I somehow forced the finished corner of my Potholder to look good by adding a wooden ring but I'm sure there is a better/correct way to finish it and a better way to add the wooden ring for hanging. ❓HOW do you cast off to to finish this? The Knit 2 together didn't look right when knitting the last Stitch to cast off. How do you finish it with those 2 stitches on the end? Do you knit each stitch individually and cast-off? Or? Thanks so much for ALL your help!🙏♥️😀

This is fantastic! ♥️👍 At first I was thinking that knitting 2 together would create a decrease (as in crochet) BUT then... 💡... I realized the "yarn over" at the beginning of each row replenishes the extra loop you're knitting together at the end of the row. I'm going to use this method on my next potholder I'm starting today. Thanks so much for all your help!🙏♥️😊

Hello, and thank you for all the nice patterns you share with us! I recently discovered your channel, and I was very impressed. I wanted to ask you if there's a selvedge stitch that you recommend for V neck, one that is suitable for further picking up stitches in order to add a ribbing? I tried many, but I'm still not very happy with the result. Thank you!
@sowoolly
@sowoolly 8 ай бұрын
Hello! Thank you for your comment. I think the best thing to do is to knit the first and the last stitch on every row of the right side, and to purl them, when you’re working the wrong side. I have just heard this tip to know what row you are on if you forget: if the cast on yarn is at the bottom then it is a wrong side row, if the yarn on stitch is at the top it is a right row, I hope that this makes sense and I am not muddling anyone...
@TamLou64
@TamLou64 Ай бұрын
I'm a 2-weeks old newbie so I'm still learning the knitting jargon and technique so bear with me. LOL!😄 What you said does not make sense to me but I suppose it depends on how you hold your work, right? Maybe you're up and down is my left and right or whatever because the way I see it isn't up or down it's left or right that determines right side or wrong side of the work. It's determined by which direction the tail is. For example, when you cast on the tail is the right. When you turn it to begin working Row 1 (right side), the tail is on the left hand side. Then when you turn it to begin working Row 2 (wrong side), the tail is on the right hand side. Is that what you are saying? Is your up/down my left/right ? Wow... I can easily confuse my self if I think about it too long... "Right Side = Wrong Side, Left Side = Right Side". 🤯🤣😂🤣

By creating that “yarn over” with the first stitch you then have an extra stitch. On the second row you again create that yarn over at the beginning. When you knit 2 together at the end of the second row you have only decreased by one stitch. You still have one extra stitch???
@TamLou64
@TamLou64 Ай бұрын
You're probably an experienced knitter. I'm a crocheter and I'm VERY NEW (10 days!😄) to knitting and I thought the same thing, that she's creating decreases. Then I THINK I figured it out BUT as a newbie I could be dead wrong. It seems to me the first row adds an intended stitch and sets up the foundation for the following rows because after the first row, the yarn over at the beginning of a row adds the stitch that you take away at the end of the row. It cancels it out so Stitch Count remains the same going forward. She also said ROW-1 would be different and that all other rows would be like ROW-2. Again, I could be wrong but her swatch looked perfect. I think the yarn over in Row 1 was necessary to add a stitch to create the V shape on the edges. This has been, and is, a fun learning experience. 😊 Again, I could be totally wrong. 🤔
