I bought a pair like the ones at 5:43 over 30 years ago, beautiful boots. Seemed like a good idea at the time but I didn't have the body or height to pull it off. I sold them 10 years later for $50 to a biker, he was happy as a pig in sh@#! 😀

My husband has a pair of python snake boots. The scales have come off and a small hole is exposed in the side of one. Does anyone know whether we can get them repaired or is it better to just replace them and throw them out.

How do you know if they are cheap snake or expensive snakeskin boots? Mine are real snakeskin however they have a Dan post label that looks sketchy to me having had others. I sell on eBay and I'm torn on what to put in listing.

@@Meekavintage Just be honest about what they are and the condition. Dan Post isn't my personal favorite brand, but they do make good boots. I don't think they would be fake, if that's what you're thinking. The only "cheap" exotic hide boots I would stay away from would be no-names. If they don't even come from a reputable brand, there's a good chance they aren't high quality. There's also the potential that the hides were acquired in an ill manner.

question--is there real leather that is not snake but made to look like it? I have vintage boots labeled "leather upper" but they are white and the snake pattern is painted on. I am reluctant to think they're real snake but they aren't PU! Planning to dye them because they're in bad shape but can't tell how it'll take the dye.
@crowvelle2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that could absolutely be the case, a lot of manufacturers will use regular cowhide & emboss or color it to look more exotic. I'm unsure how your boots will take dye if they are painted, you may need to find a way to remove that first. Good luck with them, & thank you for watching & for the comment.

@CrowVelle Knowing if a pair is authentic or not is good. It is not really all about the gun but it is all about the cowboy holding and using the gun. Fake or not, as long as the cowboy is doin good, then he'll be good. Those reptile skinned pairs of yours are really nice, I must say. Hey @CrowVelle do you own a pair or some pairs of suede brown rough-out cowboy boots? They would look really good underneath any of your blue, grey or whitish colored jeans or pants.

Thanks a lot, buddy. No boots like that in my rotation, but I'd sure like a pair of rough-out boots. If I ever find a pair that fit, I'll do an update.
