When I was pregnant with my 10 year old, my grandfather gave me his mother's rocking chair and my dad completely refinished it in cherry to go with my daughter's crib. Later, I had also inherited my grandmother's mother's folding rocking chair from the early 1920s. She was only 4'11" and it was made for her, so it was little, but in only 5'1" so it's The perfect size. The fabric wasn't in good shape and one leg was broken in half, so I left it with my parents when I was moving between apartments and kind of forgot they even had it. That Christmas, they gave it back. My dad had restored all of the wood and fixed the break. You couldn't even tell after he refinished it all! My mother redid the upholstery. It was just beautiful. I thought it was in my storage unit with my other furniture so my mind was extra blown. I still have both.

After I filed it down it looked so elegant I decided It would be what I pass on to my children. Filing a sphere so it looks smooth was hell on earth it took me 4 days to make it even, (I eventually ended up with an almost smooth paper to have the finest grain ^^). John, please do a lot more furniture videos! They’re great to view and I must say, one loves the detail and depth you go into describing the process. Such a shame to see a lot of beautiful pieces going to waste and I highly approve of people repairing these timeless classics. I’m quite a prude when it comes to furniture I shall admit. The youngest furniture I’d go for is most likely the 1960’s. I do have quite a soft spot for the Art Deco period. I’m currently restoring a gorgeous 1940’s cabinet which houses a record player and a radio, outstanding craftsman which has unfortunately been neglected. Your voice is utterly hypnotic, and your advice on lacquering is much appreciated - I have some pieces of furniture in dire need of restoration.

You're really talented. We love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom was a self taught master of furniture and refinishing, including lacquer, marbling, folk art decor, wood restoration.l You are so well rounded. We adore you (my daughter and I).

What a wonderful tutorial, thank you! And very smart to lacquer a repro: many antiques have been ruined, and lost their value, due to refinishing. It's the patina and history of the piece that makes it worth so much. Cheers♡

As a new viewer this is just about the last thing I'd ever expected to see on Mr. Maclean's channel, won't underestimate him again. When I first saw this title I thought it was about nail polish, now I'm more intrigued rather than just amused by him.He effected this change in outlook seamlessly, sorry I just had to say that.

I'd absolutely love it should you choose to include more video content as this! Your makeup and skincare series are magnificent, and I truly enjoy each one! However, the obvious passion and admiration you hold for the artwork in antique pieces is intoxicating! Thank you for sharing all you do!
