Hi! I’m applying for internships now and from my understanding the only hours that have to be volunteer are your hospital volunteer hours under a CCLS, and then of course practicums are unpaid. All stressful situation and well child hours can be either volunteer or paid! This is my second time applying. I got most of my well child hours teaching music lessons. It really set me apart and helped me get a lot of interviews! I just sucked at interviewing, hence why I didn’t get an internship my first time applying!🤣 Thanks for the advice!!

Some hospitals you do have to apply to individually but some hospitals accept the common child life internship application

Yes!! I just meant that there is no like central portal or anything to submit your app to; you have to physically mail your application to each hospital and some have different requirements than others!

What was your major in college? I’m majoring in child development but I’m not sure if I could land a child life job with a child development bachelors

I think you can still use child development. Because it’s a related field. I’m getting an associates in child development then I’m gonna get a bachelors in human development and family studies with a concentration on child life.
