@littleliverbirdsmith8953 жыл бұрын
Your measurements are exactly the same as mine and I’m doing mine by myself (well, with a little help from my brother with the digging out!). I have dug out approx 3/4 inches of the soil base (I removed the top layer of grass weeks earlier) and then put the timber frames in as support around the sides using wooden stakes to put them into the ground. Weed membrane goes in next as the base layer and set in place with U pins to secure. Then I’m using type 1 MOT (3 jumbo bags from local builders merchant) and then grano dust for the top layer (3 jumbo bags again for my measurements). Some people debate whether or not the weed membrane should go in first or as the last step under the grass, but I’m putting mine in first. Hope this helps!

Great video Chris - I’m new to your channel - I’m about to start an artificial grass job but I was going to use timber for the edging to screw into (Marshall’s advised it in a KZbin video). The job I’m on has brick walls around it a sleeper boarder and decking - would you recommend just using sharp sand and cement around the brick walls / sleeper raised bed and raised deck then just glue the edges as done in your video? No need for timber / screwing down / pegs etc?
@TheCountryCottageGardener3 жыл бұрын
Hi Johnny and welcome to the channel. Sand and cement is best practice for a longer lasting finish. Only yesterday we were doing a decking into af grass. The installers had used timber roof battens and they were rotten (2 years in the ground). Knowing that timber sleepers expand and detract with the weather I'd be inclined to concrete still. Even if the concrete is edged to the sleepers any once set it shouldn't affect the grass if the sleepers moved. The only time I'll use extra pegging would be on large areas, especially if you have joins. Hope this has been of help and you continue to enjoy the channel 👍
