Great job. I just did a crawl space foundation by myself also. I like to leave a piece of paper with the date and my name somewhere in every job I do. Hoping in hundreds of years someone will find it. Sometimes I carve my name and date in The face of a block . But when doing brick I always drop my name and date behind the wall in a zip lock bag .

I like these tips and hey can you tell me what that black mortar is around the edges of large door openings I saw being used on a new fire dept. engine bay beneath the steel header, it was used through out several courses, possibly epoxy?

Thanks. I have no clue man

I have a block building with brick vaneer. The garage door in it is standard 7 ft tall. I have a 10ft ceiling built out of concrete double tees. Donyou think it would be a massively hard job to raise the lintel for added garage door height?

May sound like a noob question, but where do you buy the lentils from? My guess is basically anywhere, but they must be ordered? I cant recall ever seeing them in stock at any big box store.
@masonthemason64122 жыл бұрын
I bought them from the local lumber yard

What about a lintel for a man door that isn’t the exact height of how the blocks stack up? Would you put the lintel above where the door will end and then put wood in the gap? Cut the pieces horizontally? I can’t find any videos in this, just a bunch of videos on cutting a hole for a door in an existing block wall.

Mason, when installing crawlspace or basement, do you make any provisions for rainfall? Or how do you keep your project from becoming an inground pool?

What about filling the gap between the lentils?

Would you have been able to lay the other block and just measure and cut it to size with a masonry saw ... I got a job for ya if you wanna travel to Michigan.. 20x30x20 .. footing and 3 rows of block. What would you charge for sometime like that ? .. be addition off the back of the house .
@masonthemason64122 жыл бұрын
Either way I needed a cut. It’s easier to cut the block and keep the lentil whole. I’d need quite a bit of money to travel that far

@@masonthemason6412 .. I got yeah .. makes sense.. if were a local job .. what would your price range for something like that ... 5-10k .. 10-15k .. 15-20k .. I'm getting bids all over place .. just thought with your experience could save me from getting ripped off lol
@masonthemason64122 жыл бұрын
For 3 courses and a footing. If I dig it it would be around 5 or 6 thousand

@@masonthemason6412 would you travel for 10k total job ?

I’d have to bid it 100%. Then figure out the housing situation
