Will is back with another episode where he goes through the whole process of laying hips and ridges. He is full of tips and tricks to make the hip and ridge tile installation easier for all of you out there watching. Will shows you marking out hip tiles in order to get them nice and straight and the all important marking and cutting ridge tiles. He runs you through getting the right mortar mix and then laying tiles before finally pointing up hips and ridges.

Good job, but to keep a straight line all you have to do. Is place a ridge tile at the top and one at the bottom eye them up make a mark top and bottom then strike a line. Still every one to their own

I'm an ex roofer, leadman for the last 20 years, I know an old boy who cuts his to ridge on the deck never on the roof and every time it's bang on, asked him a few times how he does it he just winks at me and smiles. Good call mate, I’m a plumber in Australia and theirs a real class system when it comes to trades. Roof tilers are known to be pretty rough when it comes to quality and skill. This fella is a absolute pro and great example of a master tradesmen. A&E are a class above. 👍

I have been a slater,,,roofer ,,,,for 45 years and ran 100s if not 1000s of hips up and it’s great to see someone who can put a roof on without those dry ridge systems ,most people who call thereselfs roofer these days would be baffled doing it the proper way,,great job guys

Hi Lads, it was a joy to watch professional, conscientious craftsmen at work, I work in construction doing groundworks, driving the diggers doing foundations and drainage, I like to take a bit of pride in my work same as you, so regarding other trades I have the basic idea but still need and appreciate the tradesman's knowledge. The simple fact that you re-cut the ridge tile so your margins are correct at the meeting point tells me one specific thing your an excellent tradesman and even though nobody will see but you means you care bout your work and your customers project this is a great video and your setting a great example for the younger tradesmen out there and more importantly young Ricky who's with you, it was a joy to watch this, I'm a roofer myself and I like attention to detail people god knows we have plenty of cowboys going around the place ... glad I found your channel sub now too, all the best you ll never be out of work and take care..

Nice neat job guys. We always use a t&g board as a guide. Just sit your side of the ridge on the tonge and then remove the board when you have bedded the last 1 then point up.
