I didn't understand why choosing lower spfs. Wouldn't it be safer to apply the higher spfs? Also, as a man that also cares about his skin and grooming, I appreciate that finally someone is talking about facial hair, beards and body hair in general. Skincare need knows no gender and I struggle to find information for people with hair on their body. So thanks, and hope for more content and demonstrations of how to apply on hair.

If you look into low vs high SPF it has been shown that SPF 30 (I believe, could be incorrect) is enough for protecting your skin. The higher SPF such as a 50 is really not that different from a 30. In the end it is just preference and whatever makes you feel safer.
@recordtapesbackward
@recordtapesbackward Жыл бұрын
@@Lucy-qv2ur that's not the full picture! the number of the level relates to the UVB protection, not the UVA protection. UVA is super important and if your sunscreen is broad spectrum, you will have a much higher amount of protection against UVA rays with a SPF of 50. also, if you don't manage to apply enough product for the full protection, you are better off using a higher SPF level in the first place. I would always recommend a SPF 50 or 50+ for these reasons
@recordtapesbackward
@recordtapesbackward Жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure this is a missunderstanding because cassie didn't elaborate enough on this. with choosing lower SPF, she most likely meant that when you're combining two SPF products with different SPF levels, don't rely on actually achieving the full protection of the product with the higher SPF level. so to be safe, rather expect that you have the protection of the lower SPF: does that make sense to you? :) english isn't my native language

I can't confirm, but why not just add spf1+spf2 and divide by 2?
@Lucy-qv2ur
@Lucy-qv2ur Жыл бұрын
@@recordtapesbackward When I mention the SPF I'm talking bout the sunscreen protection factor. Here in the U.S. it's common for it to be UVA and UVB or a broad spectrum. As long as you are putting enough of your sunscreen you are still getting protected. If you are a beginner and unsure if you are using enough I do think it's best to apply a higher SPF especially if you see it protects your skin. Dr Dray who is a dermatologist recommends you use a higher SPF because many don't put enough sunscreen. At the end it is a preference and Cassandra is just talking about how to layer sunscreen and the benefits.

I put on a budget-friendly SPF moisturizer first thing after rolling out of bed (before I walk the dog and get my kids ready for the day), then come back and do my AM routine; I use a slightly more expensive sunscreen at that point, then reapply every few hours with a cheaper Japanese gel sunscreen to keep the layers light. I also use a mineral stick around my eyes.

The reality is that layering sunscreen reapplication more than one or two times requires a completely different type of product than usual to not have cake face. We would need very fine products that cover well with very little physical material formulated into a powder or mist. Reapply your sunscreen sounds good, but doing it every few hours practically runs into very real problems if you don’t want to have to wash it off your face and start over.

Also, would have want to hear why we should or should not layer chemical & mineral together ? I have a question that I've long wondered. When you reapply suncreen, should you try to remove the old sunscreen first? Like will it prevent the new stuff from being absorbed into the skin like it needs to be or do you run the risk of patchiness from some areas being more worn away than others? I can't be the only one with this question and I dont think I've missed the answer. Thank you. You're great, Cassie! ❤

Only quasi-related to this, I guess, today my eye doctor diagnosed me with ocular rosacea. I'm actually thrilled to have the reason behind my chronically red and irritated eyes as well as a treatment plan (doxycyclene for 30 days). I am, however, now tasked with getting myself a "good eye care routine", which is what made me think to post this here since some sunscreens irritate my eyes (although, not the good ones I've found lately - at least as much as anything can really be said not to irritate my eyes). Is "a good eye care routine" different from gently double cleansing and otherwise taking care of the skin on my face?
@DRVenard
@DRVenard Жыл бұрын
@Southeart in the chat: This is for you😁💗🦋For facial sunscreen, the double cleanse is best for removing sunscreen, even water resistant! On the body, I've found any cream to foam cleanser on a shower pouf works great for water resistant sunscreen (The pouf is to conserve product😉) as a double cleanse on your body would be tedious and expensive. Regular body wash will remove most regular sunscreen well. Who am I to give advice? I'm "tret queen" Debbie and "shower trick hyaluronic acid" Debbie 😁😉💗🦋💗🦋💗🦋

Could you maybe also tell us how to wash off some if the sunscreen that we rubbed on other places than our faces, so hairline, body etc. Does that mean a shower at the end of every day? And do you have any recommendations fir sunscreens fir the body, it would be a bit expensive to use my isentree all over my body but I really dislike the sitckyness and small of the typical Sunscreens from the drugstore. Also it would need to be reef friendly, since I go swimming in lakes around the City a lot in the summer and it's so bad for the lakes, after a few day you can see the oil film from the sunscreen of all the people who went to cool down in there. Thanks, that would be so, so helpful!!

I love using Olay Complete moisturizer spf15. I know it is low, but hear me out. I actually use it regularly, I use a lot, and I even reapply. I have higher spf sunscreens that when I use them I find myself using as little as possible and I can't get myself to use them everyday. One of the pros of this is is barely has that sunscreen smell to it, it rubs into my skin ( I am white though) an it is not oily but absorbs in. I have tried Olay's spf 30 but it was less enjoyable. If you can't get yourself to use sunscreen I suggest trying this. It is better than nothing. But go higher if you can.
