Want to lead like Christ? Become a shepherd. A shepherd makes sure that the sheep have what they need to prosper. A shepherd does what he or she must to remove anything that might hurt or interfere with the sheep having all they need. Often at the expense or sacrifice of the shepherd.
Jim closes up 1 Peter by challenging those who have been Christians for a while to get off the bench and provide, protect and lead the church.

Dealing with the most stress I’ve ever dealt with in my career. I’m a home builder. On my hard days I put my headphones in, turn on flatirons and come back to earth. This channel has gotten me through so many hard days. Thank you.

Well, that's kinda funny. One says Elders have just been with the church for a while? What does Paul actually instruct? Someone who was hand picked by Christ himself? Titus 1:4-16 NASB - Qualifications of Elders ⁵ For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you, ⁶ namely, if any man is beyond reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of indecent behavior or rebellion. ⁷ For the overseer must be beyond reproach as God’s steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not overindulging in wine, not a bully, not greedy for money,(10% tithing) ⁸ but hospitable, loving what is good, self-controlled, righteous, holy, disciplined, ⁹ holding firmly the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict it. (Like some 38 people who watch a guy use one verse for an entire sermon, neglecting the spiritual upbringing of those in attendance) ¹⁰ For there are many rebellious people, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, ¹¹ who must be silenced (like this guy) because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of dishonest gain(like a 10% tithe, see 1st Corithians chapter 16 verse 1 and 2). ¹² One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” ¹³ This testimony is true. For this reason reprimand them severely so that they may be sound in the faith, ¹⁴ not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of men who turn away from the truth. (In example, saying Jesus is only love and truth, when he is also the judgement and testimony of what is to come) ¹⁵ To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. ¹⁶ They profess to know God,(like having worship services on sunday) but by their deeds they deny Him, (not doing as he asked, remembering the Lord in communion, baptizing for the remission of sins, and most of all, giving the truth of obtaining righteousness, allowing the local church to spread the gospel, see Mark ch 15 vs 15 and 16) being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.
