I’d love to see an in-depth dive into the whole Refold process. A few others outside the team have made them but the process has developed since then. Please do this with time stamps so I can rack up your watch time rather than read through all the steps again!

Great video, Ben!!! I have been learning Dutch for about 3 years and noticed that I was not quite consistent throughout the last 12 months, also because I was struggling to find something effective and enjoyable to do. This month I started to put 80% of my time into reading books and listening the audiobooks at the same time, but I am not an Anki guy so I haven't found a way to look up words effectively and keep reading and barely do that. What would your thoughts and tips about my approach? (my native language is Portuguese and I am thinking of also to try the same with English to improve it as well) Thanks for the content!!

Books and audiobooks are great! If you're reading a lot, Anki is pretty unnecessary. You could also try watching more KZbin or movies in Dutch. Especially older movies can give you a great insight into the culture. Sounds like a good routine to me!

@@Refold nice to hear that and thanks for the tips! KZbin and podcasts are also thongs I doI regularly! I'll definitely keep going like that, it's being enjoyable! Thank you once more!

The time that I spend with anki should be tracked too?
@Refold3 ай бұрын
It's usually a good idea to track, as long as it's easy to do, but keep it separate in your categorization.

Hey Ben, another great video! 🎉 I wanted to share a potential game changing realization I had just recently. I'm learning Korean and I found out that a couple of my games in Steam have full audio voiceovers by native speakers. Notably Witcher 3 but also Tomb Raider (and its not just Korean). I can pick between both audio and subtitles being in Korean or audio in Korean and subtitles in English. Honestly, this seems like such a jackpot for me because I'm immersing by listening to all these NPCs in the background talking in the target language. But most importantly I HAVE TO be paying all attention to what the other characters are saying to me so that I can figure out what I'm supposed to do. That means my brain has picked up so many more patterns in the last week that I've started doing this, I feel its almost a cheat code. Unfortunately they dont have full audio in Czech but you should try it in another language that you might be learning. I think you'll be a fan too. Plus I think so many people probably have a large steam library of games, they should see which ones they can enable for their TL

Adding to this, i think Cyberpunk 2077 has a lot of languages too, including korean, which is great imo. And i agree with all you said, having this necessity to understand just makes your brain tune more to the language to solve that "problem".

That's great! Finding ways to "sneak in more immersion" is great. Sadly, I haven't really played any video games in years and really struggle to find the time. Which means that I'll probably never properly explore this idea. I did do something about finding games with dubs on Steam, but the video didn't go amazing (was it even a video? I sorta forget). Anyway, I'll certainly keep your suggestion in mind! Thank you 😄 and have fun with Korean gaming! - Ben

Ah that is fair, only recently after some schedule reshuffling have I had the time as well so I get that. But that break of 5 or so years means my computer isnt prepped to play the new games like Cyberpunk as Lucas mentions. Ultimately I think the learner needs compelling content that they have the time to do consistently and for those who do game and learn languages its just another option that might be free if the game is already in their library 😄

The first two minutes is basically him begging you to pay for refold, just get to the video bro. "I'm assuming before learning a language you have enough food to starve to death while learning". Bruh 💀
@davepazz5803 ай бұрын
And if he doesn't say that up front, the comments will be flooded with "Clickbait... how can you say it's 'free' when I have to pay for electricity??" "Internet service and computer/smartphone is not free" etc.

You greatly overestimate the typical commenting crowd... I've seen many other videos that used the word "free", "best", "latest" or some other superlative in the title and chances are good someone will point out "Well it can't be the 'best' because such and such is better" or "It can't be free because you have to pay for such and such"... Which later leads to comments such as "I can't believe you resorted to such obvious clickbait tactics... I thought you were better than that!" and all this other nonsense.
