Everybody makes draws/fades seem so hard, but I tried this at the range today and I was hitting it exactly where I wanted it. Great video.

This is untrue information, it is the clubface that determines the initial direction of the ball and the swing path provides the curvature (or more precisely the angle of the club face to the swing path. Aim the clubface where you want the ball to start, and then swing inside, outside, or square to that line depending on if you want the ball to draw (hook), fade(slice), or go straight, respectively. Love the videos though!

you're right, you could just provoke an in-to-out/out-to-in swing to achieve the same result, but this is the most "methodical way" of doing things for the mid-handicapper, not to mention not needing to modify one's standard swing angle/plane. Even the lower handicappers, who usually play by feeling, use this method when possible for the simple fact it is more predictable thus less riskier depending how they have been striking the ball that day.

Keep your arms away from your body on the back swing. Don't bring the club up so high (i.e. over the neck and head) during the back swing. It will feel awkward and not as "full" but it helped fix my slice.

fleebenworth Swing Coaches like to say that, but from a physics standpoint its just not true, both methods will create hook/draw spin. With a dramatically closed club face, like he is showing here (for right handers) a significant amount of the club face is going to be hitting the right side of the ball, thus creating side spin. Simple science.
@steve89109 жыл бұрын
+pmc820 That's the point of this though, in the beginning it's a huge low swinging hook...
@PatrickMC9 жыл бұрын
+Justin M I understand that, in was replying to fleebworths comment saying this wouldn't create draw spin.

fade is easy .. I just open the club face, and then hitting with an over the top move, upper body first and I can get back in the fairways... BUTT... making it curve left, hooking, I have a problem with...something about the downswing and maybe point in aiming at the ball is being left out?? help
@SnowWolf907 жыл бұрын
thats probably cause u have a natural slice, i cant claim to be able to fade or draw, but i know how to, if i spent time on the range id be able to im sure. if u want to hook it, u want to close the club face a little, and hit inside out, think of it like when youre playing pool, u hit the side of the ball to cause spin a certain way, same thing with a golf shot, u cause spin to the left and itll go that way
@wallpaperkilla12 жыл бұрын
Really? I'm going to the range after work today and I'm gonna give it a go. I can hit left to right by changing the ball position, but this seems easier.
@incogbroadcaster11716 жыл бұрын
If you want to keep a ball low when curving it from left to right you could also in theory switch to a left handed club and swing left handed. You'd have to be ambidextrous though.

@cheeta_h34075 жыл бұрын
The opening and closing of the clubface is super exaggerated and also, to cut it big (slice), just swing over the top and to draw it big (hook), you could just come from way inside.

Then those guys are ignorant, those were the "old ballflight laws." The new ball flight laws have been established with the use of trackman etc, what I'm saying is not an opinion, it's a fact, it has scientifically been proved.
@Simonwallis3011 жыл бұрын
Only thing I would add is have a slightly closed stance for a draw and slightly open one for fade

I doubt what you are saying is true. I've just noticed how open my club face has been every time I play golf due to a weak grip. With that said, I can probably fade/slice more on a straight hole than a professional can on a dog leg to the right. It's literally that bad.
@tejanochris8 жыл бұрын
Try to use equal grip on both hands. Helped me a lot . I use the whip method. narrow your stance. On your down swing your left hand stops and your right hand follows through. Whip action. Another tip is to keep most of your weight on your left. Takes some practice but it works. I havent done a slice in a long time. Hope this helps you. Just trying to help.

Guys this video is inaccurate and most of the things that are being taught in this video are incorrect. First of all the clubface dictates roughly 80% of where the ball starts this means in order to hit a big draw the face has to be open relative to the targetline, a draw starts right then curves back to the target, to achieve that the face has to be OPEN then what is making the ball curve? The path, the face has to be closed relative to the path, in other words path more right then the face.
