1.Listen to the songs Till you internalize 2.Chart the songs..dont replicate song in detail only if its major part..know the structure and key parts..color code*** 3.Be flexible and organic, be yourself Dont sweat the sounds 4.Bring basic gear especially on fly date 5.Play what's inside of you..listen hear it in your head

Great advice thanks. I have to learn 21 songs for an 80's gig and realistically only have about five days to do it. I plan to throw flange chorus delays and reverb over everything! (In my defence that's how they sound). But yeah I write chords and notes next to the lyrics, spread out over two pages per song. And as for note for note, if you don't memorize it easily as a musician then the audience probably won't be expecting it so just wing it.

Pretty interesting video, and (I believe) useful for anyone who has to prepare a gig! :-) Enjoy the gig and post some videos here ;-) . I have a different question though. I see you use a Fractal Audio AX8. Hasn't it been discontinued? Well, yes, I believe that even without new upgrades, firmwares and whatever else it's still a pretty good piece of gear, but... Would you advice it to a "amateur" guitar player who's in love with sounds, and would like a reliable pedalboard that could be with him for the rest of his life (I'm 66...)? :-) There are some 2nd hand pieces online between 800 and 950 euros... And I admit I'm tempted. :-D But even if I wouldn't buy it, I have a couple friends who are looking for a pedalboard as I described. I understand the AX8 is pretty versatile, so... Ah, one more question: are the patches "convertible" to and from AXE FX 2-3? Thank you for any info and advice you'd like to share. Davide

first off you have to have a brain, that leaves me out. childhood brain injury. fn around with guitar for 13 years cant play a single song. serious memory issues. i also dont hear anything in my head.
