You have a lot of really good advice. What do you suggets for stylists who have a bulk of clients who pre book appts before they leave? How does the online booking come into play?

Tricky, So true!! Depends on ownership of each salon. If they are not Cosmetologist's themselves, better believe they watch clients info! Owner can be a Cosmetologist themselves & they could be open to your clients following you or beating u to the books to prevent it!! 40 years experiences.. 😅

How do you pay yourself? Do you give your self a commission or charge your self booth rent etc. how do you decide how much you keep and how much you put back into your business? Is there a formula you use?

yes, I have a method! I pay weekly for the studio i’m at and that comes out automatically! I pay myself every two weeks, and I just transfer from my business acct to my personal! my best advice is don’t overthink it, keep it simple

I personally never understand why he will say don’t go out on your own until you have enough clientele because most people go out on their own and they don’t have any clients I’ll because his hair salons are so toxic that they do stuff like this

just make sure you have enough clients to support your expenses, you can always gain new referrals!

I like working in a salom but I'm about to be a mother of 2, so I need flexibility. It's scary, but I know I can do it. I am going on maternity leave and letting them know I'm not coming back after baby comes.

You actually as an employee or renter have an obligation to tell your employer. Your advice is terrible. I'm an owner, if your leaving that's fine, but the clients will choose where they want to be. You can not solicit inside a salon, you need to leave and pay for your own advertising, and let them find you. I will gladly tell people where a stylist has gone, after the fact but on the day you leave. There are these things called business ethics, and what your teaching crosses all of them. It's a shame you don't know who to teach a responsibility and respect for your own industry. It's very sad. I have left salons, I gave my notice both times. 1st time was told to leave that day, and given 2 weeks severance. 2nd time I was a renter, I made the effort to talk and explain I found a space to create my own salon. I helped find a new renter to take my space.
