How did you get the lights to stay green? Did you use a power supply/remote to set the color before you wired them up? Also when you cut the led strip sections, did you then just use the 12 gauge wire and solder to connect all the sections into one continuous run? Thanks for the info and great mod!
@TechnoOnTop5 жыл бұрын
Rgb leds just have 3 different grounds and if you ground the "G" one it will be green, or if I wanted blue I would ground the the "B" one. Or if you want purple then ground both "R" and 'B" as for the wire yes I just connected them, and the wire Guage is probably smaller like 26 or 22 awg. Thanks for watching! Happy modding

This is beyond epic, I've been waiting for you to try this one out. I'm especially glad you didn't wreck another N64 like what you told me before, now you've got something really cool. It's interesting how you showed the power LED layout to, that gave me a cool idea to do a custom backlight for the N64 logo on the front of the console by soldering an LED in parallel to the power LED's positive and negative points. Do you know if that would work?
@TechnoOnTop7 жыл бұрын
thanks man :D, yeah I was extremely worried about it but I took my time and was very cautious checked everything with a multi-meter ect haha. you know I actually did try to do that for this 64 , I added a single 5mm green LED with no resistor, it didn't light it up but the power LED did, I checked the LED but it was good like I said there is very little power going through that LED so that has to be the issue. so to accomplish that you would have to run wires from the points on the bottom of the board. you will also need to cut out a hole if you wanted to do this on a standard grey 64. but if it's translucent you're good to go

Ahh yeah I do have one sitting in the closet. Ironically awhile ago I showed how to do that mod but when I put it all back together it shorted so I never put that video out...

:) Ah man, well while you were doing it did you figure a way to make the logo back lit and looking evenly lit up? I've seen a few on youtube but most all have bright spots.
@TechnoOnTop6 жыл бұрын
No it would of definitely be un even. I remember someone using some type of lcd to even out the light. On some forum not sure who did it. I believe they used an old cell phone display. One other way would be making a small board with multiple Leds then diffusing it would more the likely make it light up even.

Yo, thats DOPE!! I kinda wanna try this, i have some LED stripes here that i dont use. Question, because im a total noob with this, you sodered the black wire to whatever color (R, G or B) you want the LED to be and the Green wire is just the power source (my LED stripe says +12v), right?! Dont wanna cook my N64, haha.
@TechnoOnTop5 жыл бұрын
I actually ended up taking out about half the strips that were inside it for this video. one day it just stopped turning on, then after removing some strips it was back working.... maybe I went a little overboard on the leds lol and the power supply stopped dealing with it, just a thought , but I appreciate the comment, yeah R, G, B act as grounds on most if not all Led strips, then the 12v is your source, also connecting them up backwards shouldn't hurt your n64 if anything it would damage the strip, but better safe then sorry especially when dealing with a 64

@@TechnoOnTop Thank you! Yea, I dont wanna break anything, so I thought I better ask^^

TechnoOnTop it also wouldn’t break the strip, they are diodes, you really don’t know enough about this to give explanations to people.

@@TechnoOnTop Hi please put in your description that it's best to use less than you shown in the video so people do not all make that mistake. I love how this all looks. I want my ice blue done and watermelon red as well in the future.

Niche modding forums or groups that's where I would start. I'm hesitant to recommend people since iv never actually used any of their services.

No, resistors are there to keep from frying the LED's I don't remember the voltage of the source on the n64 but you might not even need them

@@TechnoOnTop What would happen if I connected them to a 5 volt power source instead of 12 volts?
@TechnoOnTop6 жыл бұрын
As long as you aren't using alot they should work. Why not just connect them the way I show in the video?
@BackTheBlu6 жыл бұрын
@@TechnoOnTop I'm having overheating issues. I'm not sure if it's because they're drawing too much power or because they're too bright. I used kapton tape where I glued the LEDs and then I covered the connections with liquid tape.
