Hello. J-2 visa holders can not work remotely in their home country. If they want to work for a U.S. company they will need to file for an EAD card.

Hi and thanks for all the valuable information! Do you know if there´s any special or exceptional way of submitting the work permit application without being in the US? For example, if I legally stablish a postal address in the US, do I need to wait inside the country until my work permit is approved? Or I can be out of the country til having my work permit granted? Thanks!

Hello. I believe I just responded to this on your other comment, but you will need to be in the U.S. in order to apply for the EAD card and there are no exceptions to this. A PO Box will not be accepted. I hope this helps!

Hello and you're welcome! No, there is no EAD while on a J-1 visa as the DS-2019 form is the work authorization.
