I tend to use blue butterfly wings and blue flowers to make poison as it is a hell of a lot easier to get hold of. Also use the perks to improve the potions and poisons as the more expensive thepotion the more ex for it. Hope this helps xx

With garlic, nordic barnacle and salmon roe, you gain one whole alchemy level per potion you make up until the 80's, then it takes a couple of crafted potions to gain an alchemy level...and those ingredients are easier to get .

Giants are actually a great way to level up some other skills while you're at it. Conjure something to attack for you and just block until the conjured creature eventually kills them. You can level both up like crazy (got my block to 100 the first day I even equipped a shield and I never block with other weapons) and collect giant toes after

Actually another way is to buy giants toe from arcadia, quick save, hit her, load the quick save then rinse and repeat but it takes a while since sometimes the toe spawns rarely and sometimes it spawns more often

If you’re playing the AE, get goldenhills plantation, max it out. Forage or buy creep cluster, mora tapinella and scaly pholiota. All 3 can be grown on the farm, I believe you’ll need about 900 of each ingredient- it probably takes half an hour to “farm” enough. This makes a very powerful fortified illusion potion that you can sell for quite a bit of $$$ and level your speech as well. The do the resto loop and make more potions that level your speech 80 levels selling only one.

If it's anything like smithing or speech, a big influence on exp gain is the value of the item, which is increased by the potency of effects. So tiers of the base perk help with lvls, as well as fortify alchemy enchantments

Plant the farm or garden with a ratio of 5 mora, 3 creep and 3 scaly. This will yield 15 of each ingredient every 3 days and produce the highest value potion where all ingredients can be farmed. Enchant 4 items (ring, necklace, hand and head) with fortify alchemy. Requires no money and you will be a millionaire in no time (if you are willing to waste the time selling the potions).

Full list of things that buff alchemy in one way or another (at least the ones I know of): Thief Stone for 20% increased xp gain, Well Rested 10% or Lover's Embrace 15% more xp after sleeping in your bed, being a vampire with the Necromage perk from the Restoration tree makes crafted potions 25% stronger and last 50% longer which greatly increases value and thus xp, any gear with Fortify Alchemy on it (helmet, necklace, ring, gloves), perks from the Alchemy tree (Alchemist, Physician, Benefactor, and Poisoner can all help depending what you're crafting), and finally Sinderion's Serendipity which is gained after giving 30 Crimson Nirnroot to Avrusa Sarethi at the Sarethi Farm and grants a 25% chance to make an extra potion when crafting. If alchemy is one of the last skills you level, you can make use of all of these which will massively help reduce the total required ingredients and time to reach 100. Happy brewing!

I find that Boar Tusk, Blue Mountain Flower, and Lavender levels you up much faster than using Giant's toe or Salmon Roe. I picked this combination since two of the ingredients were ridiculously easy to get. I also recommend getting the alchemy perks. Even if it doesn't level up faster, it makes it easier to get back the money you spent on trainers. Edit: I did have enchanted alchemy gear, so all I needed was about 40-60 Boar Tusks.

Couple more tips. Alchemy is a stealth skill. The thief guardian stone (the first guardian stone(s) you encounter) increases xp gain of alchemy +20%. The better the potion (higher base value) the more xp you get from crafting it. So buy or craft an alchemy gear set. If your goal is to just get levels for the perks, invest perks points you get into alchemy as you level this way your making better potions (more xp) and using less ingredients. Then when you get to level 100 make the alchemy skill legendary to get your perk points back so you can invest them how you like. This is a lot more tedious and requires you to be aware of what you’re going to do early in a play through but there are 10 levels (I believe) you can get through quest and books. Avoid them until your level 90, basically let books and easy quest do the hardest levels.

What you missed was that if you have the Creation Club with Anniversary Edition, you could plant a lot of plants that could be used to make paralysis poisons and it respawns every few days at Goldenhills Plantation without needing any trainers. All you need is either the Farming Creation Club mod or the Anniversary Edition to use that method.

I usually start a garden and grow Scalia Pholiota, Creep Cluster, and Mora Tapinella in a ratio of 3:3:5. If you have the Anniversary Edition, the farming house outside of Rorikstead is perfect for this because you have tons of grow areas and an alchemy lab inside. You can also do it with one of the Hearth Fire homes. These potions will fetch you a hefty sum and level you pretty quickly. If you really want to level it up fast and not adverse to glitches, do a restoration loop with Albecean longfin or Cyrodillic Spadetail with salt pile. You will hit 100 in minutes if you have the supplies.

Be a Wood Elf. Use the Command Animal power to harvest Salmon Roe at rapids. You can also use the flame spell. Also use Command Animal to protect yourself from Horkers while gathering Nordic Barnacle along the North Shore. Become a farmhand at farms (by picking something and selling it to the farmer) allowing you take Garlic from the farmhouses. Salmon Roe + Nordic Barnacle + Garlic makes the most valuable potion in the game.

Wearing gear that increases the power of created potions will increase the xp gain per potion, so will putting points into the alchemy perks that increase the strength of created potions. Getting geared up and spending the skill point could probably cut the number of potions you need to make to about 150 or so. Alch xp gain is based off the gold value of your created potions. So the fastest xp will come from whatever you can do to maximize the value of the potions you're making. A potion that says it will be worth 400g is twice the xp as one saying it will be worth 200g.

Creep cluster, mora mushrooms, and scaly mushrooms can be farmed on the plantation and run it faster. Getting the perks would speed it up because the cost of the potion is where experience comes from.
