To put my smoker outI just put a piece of tape across the smoke exit, suffocating the fires. A toilet paper or paper towel roll works well for lighting the smoker. Works like a chimney. Yes, I use egg cartons, too. And, I usually put some newspaper on top of the other fuel to keep the smoke cool. That's my 2 cents worth.

Great tip! I have a little stick that is the perfect size to plug up my smoker. It's really important to be careful with those things.

Oh my goodness. That's awful. Don't put a smoker in a barn!! Jeez. I know a lot of people that put their smoker in the back of their pickup truck.

Oh yea,, I just toss it in the back,, let it burn as I’m going down the road people always look at me like I’m driving a flame engulfed vehicle as I’m passing them,,

@@Kewlneasy I've heard that they make great kindling for a smoker. I miss the smell of pine needles. I remember walking through pine forests in Mass. It was the best. We have pine trees here but as far as I'm aware they don't have much of a smell. I was just reading that there are Africanized bees in Florida now. Do they know how that happened? If they make it to HI, the queen breeders are in serious trouble.

@@BeekeepingMadeSimple i don’t think you guys have to worry about that out there hahaha, I think people make a big deal outta the genetics when they shouldn’t.. as you can see I’m not even using a veil in my videos, my bees are very well mannered and recently requeened with good Italian genetics. But I’ve worked and been around a lot of hot bees before “Africanized”, and there’s nothing wrong with them if you know how to work them,, and they’re very vigorous groomers/clean bees,, very resistant to mites, make more honey in hotter weather,, build up faster, go longer on low stores, I could go all day. besides their temperament they are very good, resilient bees.. but yes to answer your question we do have a lot of Africanized genetics floating around here and so we have to requeen frequently and take other measures at times, but like I say it’s not a big deal in my mind
