The incandescent bulbs look better. I would use the brigher and whiter led strips on like the roof of a passenger platform, shop, factory. TY for the lesson in lights. I am a new RR modeler.

I love the blue light that represents night time, great idea.

Love the video Mike but they appear a little too bright now. Maybe just one set of 3 per building would be enough. Love the look though. Mike

You may want to add a rheostat in so you can adjust the level of brightness.

The LEDs look great but honestly I'd use a mix. It would give some texture to the overall lighting and show more randomness in each building.

obviously in your video the act of tinning your wires were done off the top of the frame.

Yes, need to cut the LED out put as too bright or find some warmer LEDs.

I hope you're still active,,,,,question,,,,,is it possible to use a DC power supply as a rheostat? would it help in lowering the brightness
@MikesTrains4 жыл бұрын
Yup I'm still around, As to your question yes you should be able to use an old power supply for that but keep in mind if you are using LEDs they can't handle much more than 3 volts and power supplies will go to 12 volts and ALL lights hooked up to it will always be the same level of brightness. It's for this reason that I use resistors with leds as i'm able to hook up all my lights to hook up to 12 volt power and also vary the light levels.

I use LED's for all my light, between 6 and 9 volts works well. Bob, Longshadowsmodeltrees.com

Yes I think they are a bit bright at 12 volts right now so I'm looking into different ways to dim them a bit. There are several options and want to try a few ways and see what works best for me.
