Just loved those 4 points getting repeated here again 1. Always seek to have less rather than more 2. Always seek to be last than first- in matters of enjoyment and credit 3. In matters opinion do the will of others than your (not values) 4. In all situations accept the will of God

I am suffering from depression from past 21 years, I think spirituality has a way for me to come out of my mental illness. I too wanted to renounce everything and be a monk but I am the only son of my parents, I can't leave them. I just practice meditation and watch many spiritual videos on KZbin.

@dineshchawla49996 ай бұрын
@@nikhilkhandelwal3927 I know that attachment to my parents is the cause of my suffering but it's not that easy to say that it doesn't matter to me whether they live or die. I live with them 24 by 7. The reason of my depression was different at different ages. I believe that the aim of human life is moksha and if I could lead a life of a monk I could have gone closer to the aim of human life.

The Swami and these videos are PRICELESS and I'm so thankful that he and they exist but I've noticed that he does tend to avoid the topic/obstacle of sex/lust as exemplified in this very video. I believe that this particular hindrance to progressing on the Adivaita Vendanta spiritual path is one that plagues a lot of people worldwide and especially in the West. It's definitely my number one issue as I'm a bit of a minimalist regarding material possessions, even with regard to collecting worldly experiences. I'd really love to receive more instruction on this topic.

7:05 "Meditate for a bit in a forest somewhere - two years, two days, doesn't matter - come back to the west, open a centre near rich white folks with an obsession for 'finding' themselves, then give lots of abstract, profound-sounding talks for the KZbins. Monetise mafaka!" Surprised at this monk's courage to say the quiet bit out loud. Bravo!

Actually the British cleverly replaced our native - language education with English so that we could be their clerks and sepoys, while they took away everything they considered of value. It is a fact we have not radically recovered from that yet. But not only does India's future sustenance depend on the conservation of its spiritual paths, but the future of the world depends on the world's grasp of Indian spirituality. Discern the genuine and don't dwell too much on the false so that your mind gets dyed in it.
@WisdomWeaverBitcoinBruv5 ай бұрын
Ah, the divine dance of dharma and drama! From KZbin enlightenment to the East India Company, we've transcended space and time faster than you can say 'cultural appropriation.' But why stop at clerks and sepoys? Let's go full circle: I'll outsource my cynicism, you export your wisdom, and we'll meet in the middle for a chai-latte of irony. We could call it 'Karmic Arbitrage: Balancing Spiritual Trade Deficits.' First lesson: How to meditate on the sound of one hand cashing a check. Ohm sweet ohm!

"Matter of opinion" means, Are we supposed to accept whatever other says
@rvijayala7 ай бұрын
Swamiji I have a question. How is one supposed to follow a monk-like approach towards one's loved ones? I cannot renounce my responsibilities towards my children - and I am filled with concern for them. A mother's love for her children is neither Acquisition nor Lustful consumption. If it's neither then how can mothers practice monk-like behaviour? How can we be spiritual as mothers, what should we renounce? All the examples are about kings and warriors and corporate honchos....I am none of these. Can you explain how I - an ordinary mum- should practice renunciation? How should I respond when my loved ones suffer? I hope someone at the Mutt - or some enlightened reader - will provide a point of view
@vedanta_philosophy7 ай бұрын
I have children myself and I too wonder what will come of them, but all I can do is to teach them what I know and have faith that God will look after the rest. I recommend reading the books by Swami Prabhavananda; "The Eternal Companion: Brahmananda - His Life and Teachings" and "Shankara's Crest Jewel of Discrimination: Viveka-Chudamani" offer a lot of good advice for house-holders. 🙏🙏🙏

You say that life doesn't owe us Happiness. Fair enough. If the Universe indeed looks at itself through our eyes, then it wants to see all kind of stuff, not just comedy and blissed out people. That would be boring as heck. But... what about balance? Does this life, the Play of God, Shiva's dance, whatever you want to call it, does it owe us some resemblance of balance in the good and bad stuff? After all, the Yin and the Yand always balance each other out, do they not? Or is it perhaps that the Universe, Brahman does not have any preference at all? Maybe good, bad, fairplay, love, hate, justice, are all things of Samsara. Brahman is just looking at the show it plays. Do we project these things onto whatever the Ultimate is?

Where does life pay people to do the work of a monk? It is hard and long. And the teachings for a monk cannot apply to householders nor to warriors nor to business people. Common sense would tell you that.
@vedanta_philosophy9 ай бұрын
I disagree. Have you read the gospel of Sri RamaKrishna? There is a lot of information in there on how a householder can live a monk like lifestyle and attain moksha.
