My overall sound image lacks kind of the power when I'm making a LoFi, everything kinda sounds a bit dull although I try to pay attention to the different frequencies? How do I make my sound LoFi without killing the vibrance and rich sound of a good beat
@DavidRitt
@DavidRitt 2 жыл бұрын
Love your question. Try this maybe: make your instruments and fx layers very lofi, broken and old. In contrast, your bass and beats can be very high quality and rich in low and high frequencies. Hope that helps!

What if you wanted a vocal track in a lo-fi beat? Wouldn't you need tape emulators and saturation to give it "that sound"?
@DavidRitt
@DavidRitt 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think stuff like that would work great, but I don't have tape emulators so my go-to plugin for that would be RC-20 as well. Even a simple EQ cutting lows and highs would bring you into the right direction I'm sure!

An underutilized technique is to take the lead sound and reverse it for the intro. Not the whole thing, but it really makes the lead into a song more interesting and most people won't notice that it's just a reversed piece. For the people that don't want to spend money on RC20, if you have Max for Live you can use Pocket Color 2 instead, it's an amazing plugin.
