How to Lock Files on Google Drive

This video reviews how to lock files so they cant be edited. It also shows you how to look up the activity of when it was last locked, unlocked, or edited. This is a great feature if you have coworkers and a shared drive. This would prevent them from working on it without you knowing.

Is that part of hipaa compliance or just if sharing with patients/colleagues that you’re concerned with?

I would use it for sharing in my organization. Sharing docs outside your organization is not covered with you BAA by google. So if you want to be HIPAA compliant don’t share your files with the patients. You could send them PDFs but if you don’t have an encrypted email service (google covers emails inside your organization not to patients) it wouldn’t be HIPAA compliant either. You could have the patient sign an electronic communication waiver and email through gmail after.
