As a european there is such a difference between US and European 'How to wear....' channels. The US chanels tend to look a fashion items, while the European tend to look at a stylish capsule wardrobe. I'll be sticking to the ruthless European channels which basically is along the lines of 'Would you have bought this item 5 years ago and will you still be wearing this item in 5 years, if the answer is No, then why are you buying it now?' Combined with advice on quality of fabric/cut/finishes.

@andreasfashiongalaxy is one of my faves. She does fantastic short videos. She’s German and has a great sense of style. I’m sorry but I found everything in this video just tacky, I agree with the comment about Euro fashion. TBH, it’s largely the same with home decor too, Europeans have a much greater sense of style imo (I’m not European btw)

A note about jeggings. I had never purchased them until recently. A friend passed down a couple of pair to me that were two sizes larger than I normally wear. What I noticed is that they fit like actually jeans! I have stretch yes, but the legs don't cling. I love them. Try this trick when you want a skinny jean look.

Honestly you looked great in all the outfits. I think these rules are silly. Styles are popular at different times. They don’t look bad, someone just decided a certain look is “out” for a few seasons. So follow the leaders if you want to be trendy. If you want to look confident and be comfortable, wear what you like and in the proper size. That is my 2 cents.

It’s not that it looks bad. The clothes are fine. Wearing things that are out can age you. Vsauce has this video called “Did People Used to Look Older” that translates well to this point. The answer to that question of course is no. It’s the clothes.

She didn't say it looks bad. It's pretty clealy stated that the point of the video is about how to avoid looking dated with your fashion. If you personally care about that, than these are tips for you. If you're okay with looking dated, that's perfectly fine, do you. Skip the video. 🙄

Who gets to decide what is outdated? I think the idea that clothes can be outdated is outdated. I see young pups on IG wearing all kinds if things I would have considered outdated in 1997, and outdated clothes from 1997 😂 If people our own age don’t think our clothes age us, then we’re saying we are dressing so younger people don’t think we look old, and that’s incredibly sad if you think about it. Are we really going to start wearing 90s again to be on trend? I don’t think I can do it. 😂

I agree about pants, I’ve been talking all of my friends out of their capri’s for 10 years now 😂😂. But I really have to disagree about the classic crew neck tee. I don’t think they look very flattering on a large bust and I tend to think they only look good the small boobed gals. I think classically, even a slight v neck looks better on busty women. The crew neck tee is really a “trend” for the last few years that big boob gals are going look back in pictures at and wonder what they were thinking. Personally, they make me look much larger than I am, and I’m quite slim.

I think you've hit on something in the part at the end! I had my son 10 years ago (next month! WOW!) and I've apparently been trying to duplicate my old style this whole time. Not with the same clothes, but the cuts, colors, etc. My chest and hips are bigger, my waist and ribcage are smaller - it's like I'm a more exaggerated hourglass, and every piece of clothing out right now is baggy and making it worse. This was really helpful, I think you can even probably dive deeper into this for more content!

enjoyed watching your video. My thoughts about dressing (given I like what I'm wearing) are basically this: -when wearing separates like pants/skirt and top, if the top is more loose and blousy, I will choose a more close fitting pant or skirt. Then the opposite for a close fitting top (like a bodycon or knit top), I will choose a more loose fitting pant or skirt (skirt more a-line or gathered for flare). The other element I use is to do with proportion - like the 1/3 and 2/3 rule. When adding a jacket or sweater coat, I have found that tucking in tops at the waist offers the best solution for the style and proportion. And I too agree with Cheri that all your outfits looked great.

You hit the nail on us buying stuff, then life happening, then at one point we're looking into it again and it feels like we need a refresh. I decommissioned almost all my skinny jeans and bought 3 pairs of leather and suede pants plus a pair of trousers in a more modern cut and it feels like it completely changed my wardrobe. All the rest remained the same, I still use the same sweaters and if I used blouses I'd have the same ones (rolling my eyes at ironing). Thank you for the tips, I'll have to see what tops I have that are weather appropriate and can be tucked in. I find that replacing the cardigans with an open fleece jacket makes a person look younger, more human and abordable and the right cut can still be stylish.

Very helpful! I have found that the tuck definitely looks better than when I leave my shirt untucked. I now usually tuck my shirt just off to the side, and find that it does not highlight the tummy I'm trying to minimize. And as for prints, another KZbinr said the prints one can always feel comfortable in are stripes or polka dots, and I'm now following that as I try to build and update my wardrobe.

I dont do mistakes . 😜 and dressing frumpy its not in my blood 🤪😜 i am from Eastern Europe, so we always love to dress up, so i never changed when i came to US, some 20 years ago. For any DIYers in here, you can add shape to these loose tops (the orange one at the beginning, and the one at 8:30 ) by adding rows of shirring around the waist or under the bust, whatever suits your fancy to match your body type. However, what I think would REALLY suit tops such as the orange top (all solid colour) is honeycomb smocking! It adds shaping and a geometric design while still being stretchy. But it’s very time consuming because it can only be done by hand. No sewing machine! But the end result is so beautiful and elevated. I urge you to take a look at couture smocked dresses for inspiration. Don’t think of little girls’ dresses. Smocking done right for a woman’s figure looks very sophisticated.

You can also add a little tuck if needed. I wear a lot of full button shirts because they're easy to modify (don't need to worry about ease quite so much). I often put a little tuck in the back to make it sit better since I (and indeed many women also) have a sway back ❤️

Could you please release a video about shoes only... I mean what is good or bad for specific clothes (like jeans, different type of trousers, leggings, mini/midi/maxi skirts or dresses)

This is total needed video! Really appreciate it. I have noticed since the pandemic a lot of people are still wearing loungewear outside ... ugh! Love the tips, keep them coming ! 🤩

Thank you Anna for your helpful tips! I do enjoy fashion, but since I’m retired now, I also felt I didn’t need to impress anyone… but, I do like to be put together when I go out. There are just days I feel so confused on what to wear and how to put things together. I too live in a very warm climate most of the year, so it can be limiting. Regarding sleeping on your back… I started several years ago sleeping on my back because I noticed my face had tiny lines and droopy eyelids… lol 😂 To help me stay on my back, I put a pillow underneath my knees and I stay in place. Plus, I was getting a lot of wrinkling on my décolleté, now that I sleep on my back, they’re no longer an issue. By the way, you look lovely with your hair parted on the side, very chic💜

I'm literally wearing one of the shirts you said was a no...the blue floral from Target. I do have it tucked in though and I love it. If you even out the cords they won't look so odd the way you had it. You can also push the bead up higher, reknot it and cut off the excess length. lol

It would be fun to see a video where you restyle some of these pieces. I am 35 and all my friends are in their twenties and so I have been in my feels a little lately about my age...and my side part 😂 Also I really love the slip skirt trend but hate chunky sweaters which is all I see them styled with. Seeing some fun spring and summer looks for this year would be good too 😊

A side part is classic. Look at all the fashion icons of the 40s and 50s, those classic looks never get stale. The middle part that started in this '60s and '70s made everyone look droopy, like they're peering through a hair curtain. I'm 60 years old and people still tell me I look like "a young Liz Taylor' 😁.

@@AllergicToMakeBelieve Middle parts are also not flattering if you have a round face or double chin…. I always do a side part to avoid emphasizing a not so slim face 😊

I love the suggestions. I know they aren’t as flattering but I love the cropped mid to lower calf. I have a really nice pair of cropped jeans from Target that bought last year and I will wear them this spring and summer. The floral stuff can be really tricky. I basically stay away from floral. I love your pointed flats by the way!

I think they can be OK, at times when they are in style. Like in the 1950's they probably looked darling. But right now, when you wear something of the sort, its so jarring, and tells such a style story, that people automatically have ideas about you, and then the fact that unless you have wonderfully shapely and slender calves and ankles it will not likely look good, even now when kick flares are trying to come back its tricky. Prints are tricky. You can always tell cheap ones from expensive ones just by how crisp they are, and how they are done. I love plaid tennis skirts, but I cant buy the 40 dollar ones from Halara. I have to spend 100 or so from Alo Yoga or Beyond Yoga because of how the print itself looks, and how its sewn. It'd just a little bit more money, but it makes all the difference. When you have any kind of print, you have to spend just a little more so thy actually line it up, and do it at least decent.

Floral is really a style personality if you're a romantic style personality you will love it if you're not you won't also you have to wear a print based on your size petite =small print average =average print grande= a bigger print which is why Anna does not suit the large print I think she is too short to carry it off :)

I have a couple of capri pants as well and they look great on me and i actually have really muscular calfs from just daily walking so they do stop at a wide point on my leg. I dont know why they look good on me but i often get complimented on them as well because depending on what you pair with, they can be great office pants or casual street wear. I watched a buch of influencers point out capris as a never wear item. I could litterally be at gathering be the only 1 in capris and receive positive outfit feedback lol.
