I fold one leg of the trousers over the bar of the hanger, then the other leg of the trousers the opposite way over the hanger. That way they are less likely to slip off and end up in a pile in the bottom of the dust bag.

Thanks Frank. That's a useful technique. I've always found it a little fussy, but if falling trousers annoy you it certainly works doesn't it?

Great video, although I found it strange that while Brian was brushing the suit, your camera man chose to do some close-ups of his face rather than to continue to show how the brushing of the suit was done. Thanks very much.

Even stranger that no one actually spoke to or interacted with Brian??

Camera missed the type/style of coat hanger and just focused on Richard
@PermanentStyleLondon2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that should have had more of a close-up. Although the brushing technique is pretty intuitive

Hello, you state a suit should be dry cleaned about once a year (or as needed in special cases); how many times per year would each suit be worn? Thank you!
@PermanentStyleLondon6 жыл бұрын
About once a week. It would be brushed down and given a press regularly as well, both of which would help keep the suit clean and in good shape

2:15 I’m slightly confused regarding stain removal/maintenance suggestion. Dapping abit of water on stains was what felt intuitive. But when I took my jacket to Jeeves dry cleaning, they told me to avoid doing this in the future as it leaves a mark/water stain. Are they trying to get more business out of me? Or is there logic here I’m unaware of?
@PermanentStyleLondon2 жыл бұрын
No, it can be a risky thing to do, but the key is to not let the water just dry in a circle. Dab some water on, let it soak for a second or two, and then use some kitchen towel to soak up any excess. Also, avoid doing it on light-coloured materials

i never dryclean my dress pants, just iron them, some brush, and add some fresh scent to it, thats it.
@PermanentStyleLondon2 жыл бұрын
Worth dry cleaning sometimes, just not very often. Particularly with trousers. Sweat isn't going to go away with any of those treatments

a lint roller does the job just fine

Dry clean a suit? Almost never! I only dry clean my suits when they're clearly dirty, maybe every couple of years. I simply keep them fresh with cedar hangers and clean with brushing. One's wife (or valet) should brush a jacket while one wears it obviously. This chap brushing the suit looks sincere of course but he also looks really awkward and, sorry to say, very ineffective.

30 second intros are not tolerable on youtube.
@PermanentStyleLondon6 жыл бұрын
Thanks. The Permanent Style audience is pretty engaged - they usually comment that there's not enough talking even in a 20-minute video!
@marshalcraft6 жыл бұрын
it really depends. If it's a good intro and the video probably doesn't have a lot of replay quality, then 30 seconds is fine. But if it's a series and there are intros, yeah might want to shorten them up. after the 12 th time it gets a little old. Don't have to though. If quality content people would probably bare it.

@@marshalcraft Yes, I think that's the key. People rarely watch it more than once
