Took your advice you’ve posted over the last few weeks, and made an Indigenous Peoples Day coffee chat style reflective video last night, fairly spontaneous (it was a 5 min highlight version of the 1 hour class I did with my students, just before), did not edit at all (all in one take), and my 24 hour views are tripled with it not even being a full 24 hours yet-plus the watch time is up 10%. This stuff actually works, folks! And what I’m seeing is my viewers (I’m doing tips and topics for college students and other professor) don’t watch a lot of shorts. 🤔

Who would have thought it hey! Would you mind sharing the things you have put into action. I’d love to feature you in a future video, I’m taking a screenshot of this video now #Humbled 🙏🏻
@professordianaskole2 ай бұрын
@@Steven-Thompson I’d be happy to, because I also love helping others. The Indigenous Peoples Day video, I just went with my heart, from my own unique knowledge, and didn’t edit. I did it all in one take and immediately posted it as soon as I was done. And then I walked away from the computer, didn’t fuss with it, and didn’t check it until the next day. Right now, my views are even higher and the watch time is now up 50% more. It works! And I wore my Cherokee turban, too. (Edit: I was thinking maybe I should go back and redo some of my previous videos, but I’ve decided against it, looking at today’s analytics for my channel. I think I’m going to take your advice, that had these results in this one video, and just make related ones for my ‘how-to’ videos on my experiences that led to the ‘how-to’ perspective and see how additional relatable communication does, if that makes sense.)

Also a fan of Atomic Habits. Have the audio book. And also ear deep into Day Trading Attention and Surrounded By Idiots and adore the Heros 2 Journeys seen in soo many movies and books. But its time to acknowledge the hero within.... reluctantly.... (Lee Wicks)

I’d love to start a channel but my face has ruined my life. I cannot show my face, it is scarred and I don’t know how to go forward. Can I wear a mask? Any advice welcome 😢
@marlettamcclain19502 ай бұрын
You might be surprised. I’ll bet there are many others with scarring or disfigurations. Don’t let it hold you back. Use it to help others. Think about people who have lost limbs or are paralyzed and how they overcome their disability. I am 100% confident you will do well.

I’m sure your reaction is stronger than what others would have. We are all our own worst critics. I was horrified to see myself on video recently as I was practicing filming. I had no idea I looked so ancient & wrinkled, how prominent my acne scars are. The harsh midday sun did nothing to help. So I didn’t post it. (Haven’t posted a thing yet.) This morning I did a crazy thing: made a video after walking my dog-had bed head, no makeup, jacket on over my pajamas. I figured I’d just invite the comments right off the bat (when I finally figure out how to post/what to do/thumbnail, etc.). I told people I was expecting harsh remarks about my appearance, content, skills. I’m guessing my acknowledgment will somewhat diffuse those remarks. Made me feel better anyway. So what if people say harsh stuff? Doesn’t make me any less a person. Same is true for you! The other option is to make videos that are faceless. Best wishes!
