HOW TO LOOP STUFF - lazy tutorial

Spoiler alert: USE SOFT EDGES AND GO SLOWLY.
I'm trying to figure out how to one-take a tutorial, so it needs no editing at all.

That odd predicament when you're too lazy to edit a video with useful skill, but not lazy enough to perfectly edit a waterfall looping in the same video. HOW DOES ONE NOT EDIT A VIDEO ABOUT EDITING. YOU'RE DRIVING ME INSANE TARAN.

Cool! I had always used really slow Morph Cuts or a really slow dissolve, but I've certainly got to try out Linear Wipe now. Also, that marker idea for duplicating the looped clip is amazing since I had always just split the clip in the middle, took the first half and set it after the second half, and then did the transition between, but using the marker seems so much easier!

You could probably also use the difference blend mode of a still frame of the beginning to find a particularly similar end frame.

here is what I did. take the last acceptable frame from yoru tooage, freeze frame it and put it in a layer above your duplicated clip. Use difference merge mode and find a place where the difference is the least. put in a dissolve and find the frame, time it correctly and loop. it is heavily compressed and nobody will pixel peep it. I often build looping gifs of funny moments and sent them my friends and so far it has worked rahter well.

For those who want to lengthen sequences of memes for example, the way to do this is to reverse the clip, play it forward, reverse again and so on. That's how it works in resolve: kzbin.info/www/bejne/epTSXoikeKuUe7M

"render in to out" Make sure your previews are set to something decent. (it's in the sequence settings. Mine always match the sequence resolution, so that i can use them to render the final video, but you don't have to.)

I don't use insert and overwrite shortcuts. There's no proper way to "aim" it onto the track you want. And you can't see how large it'll be before you plop it down. And it always moves your playhead. Ugh.
