This walking stuff is true! In May 2020 I was 253lbs and 31% body fat. Started walking, first thing in the morning, before breakfast. Got up to and have maintained 7-8km per walk every day since. As of December 2020, I have been 11-12% fat, and weight of 159, + or - 3lbs. I'm never tired and eat 3000 calories a day with a protein intake of 1g/lb. I'm 55 years old and haven't felt this good since my twenties. Believe it!

After a recent open heart surgery, I had to take daily walks for cardiovascular rehabilitation. It became habit. When I got my doctor's clearance, I started to ride my bicycle, again, too. Two weeks ago, I began using ACV, twice a day, along with starting to phase out all processed foods, (trying to do that all at once is a recipe for failure, but I digress...) I began limiting myself to a max of 1200 calories/300 complex carbs a day, and twice weekly 15-hour fasts. Bearing in mind that, due to health issues, I can't do a full-on Keto diet, I still paid attention to my diet and started REALLY reading labels. In two weeks time, I've lost two full inches from my waist! At age 64, I'm ready to get back to moderate weight training. I'm here to attest to the fact that this WORKS! Thank you for the inspiration.

Yep! That’s why I do a light afternoon snack around 3, then do weights for 30 minutes around dinner, then cardio for 30 minutes, usually walking - then eat dinner. Has worked for decades. But a healthy diet is the biggest factor first of course.

Great video you just answered my question about how long after I eat should I start my walks for fat burning. I wake up early in the morning weight train before work and after work I walk 5 miles and just recently started wearing my weight vest... I eat my lunch at work usually around 12-12:30ish pm so by the time I get home from work I drink a cup of Japanese powdered matcha tea and head off for my walk, I was worried I'd be burning what I ate at lunch rather than fat but your video just answered my question, awesome!! Keep motivating us coach!! 👌🏾👌🏾

I was at 396 lbs. Almost three years ago and i am now down to 275 lbs. I did alot of lap swimming and walking on the treadmill to lose it. My routine has always been to eat breakfast ( first thing )and hydrate well, then wait an hour and go workout. Im excited to have watched this video because it has opened my eyes to the error of my ways. Starting tomorrow i am going to get up first thing and do cardio. His other video went well with this one that talked about the importance of waiting a couple hours after waking up to eat. I have been doing well with my weight loss but i am hopeful this will give me even more momentum through the finish line. Good luck all.

I think to much emphasis on what time to walk is given, on a fasted state or walking right after a meal it’s all good and will help you lose body fat if we just do it.

I am also doing IF and Keto and am going to the gym in a fasted state and also right before I break my Fast with a protein shake, creatine, and BCAA. I’m hoping this is a recipe for success. I am starting out do 30 minutes of cardio either on the elliptical or a fast walk on treadmill as well as alternating days doing arms and legs/back/abs with weights. What I want to know….is it better to do cardio before lifting or after lifting? My main goal is to lose a bunch of weight

True story, Thomas. Former USAF here, 20 years ago, post 9/11. The big kick at the time for us was inclined walking for stamina training. We upped it by adding weight, 40 lbs to be specific, because that was the weight of our battle rattle. We'd jack the treadmills to max incline. Once that didn't cut it, it got to IRL hills and steps. We were walking up steep hills with 40 lb vests. Everyone doing it got super shredded and lost tons of weight, plus the stamina boosts.
@RobRikerTechChannel
@RobRikerTechChannel Жыл бұрын
That's a great progression. Working towards max incline at 3.4 mph now, which is my max consistent walking pace with no incline, definitely feel it in the calves and hams. I'll definitely get a weighted vest and give that a shot.
@archangelmichael1978
@archangelmichael1978 Жыл бұрын
@@RobRikerTechChannel The great thing about this workout style is that if you don't just focus on the incline and use different routes or paths each day of the week, it works different muscle groups, which playing into the entire muscle confusion thing. Don't walk the steepest every day. Do each as it's own workout. Low climb on Monday and stairs on Friday and keep with that. I only did the stairs once per week. My legs were totally jacked back then. tl;dr Don't try to kill yourself doing stairs in battle rattle every day. Walking up that hill takes the whole week. Get it? Don't exceed 40 lbs. Be sure to use a load bearing backpack if you use weights. Have fun and good luck. I promise that it'll be incredible for you.

if hes talking about eating less thats calorie deficit. if hes just talking about moving the meal to a different time then whats it matter cause your doing the same amount of walking and extra just sitting around digesting no matter what order you do it in. it might not be burnt on the walk but it will still be burnt if your eating the same amount and walking the same. your body will just get to burning fat when you choose to sit if you burn the food when walking. either way its the same.

I've been walking my ENTIRE LIFE... My mom never drove and I don't driven, I rely on my feet and public trans for longer durations. I ended up 65lbs heavier than my natural weight in 5 years... And no walking on gods green earth did a thing. It wasn't until I started super intense cardio training combined with IF and prolonged fasts did I lose weight. I really don't think just walking is the answer for everyone nor is it as simplistic as suggested. (And yes I do most of my walking and my workouts in a fasted state)
@valdius85
@valdius85 Жыл бұрын
Slow pace does burn more fat in PERCENTAGE then fast pace. That does mean the fat burning is slower during fast pace. It just means the proportion changes. It is also very hard to measure the proportion because lactic acid makes it impossible with ordinary methods. So both fast and slow paces are good. Obviously people can do more of the slow pace, but that is another argument all together.

I do both most days. I walk for an hour very early. The sun is coming up toward the end of my session. I also often do a fifteen minute walk after a meal to help with insulin spikes. I'm 67 years old and am very trim and fit ( probably being a professional woodwind player also helps). I had thyroid cancer in 2015. After my thyroid was removed I started gaining weight. Nothing seemed to work until I started walking. Being semi-retired, I have time to do this. I realize that most people don't. I never take for granted how fortunate I am.

I still think it's better to walk after eating to reduce your blood glucose. If your bg spikes, then you will store fat only to have to burn it off later. Better to not store it in the first place. Ideally, you would eat low carbs and not spike bg, and then walk fasted later on. I alway walk after eating and my A1C went from the high-end of normal, to actually flagged as low, below the reference range.

I walked 3-5 miles a day 4-5 times a week, and barely lost 3 lbs. I was in a calorie deficit, and tracked it for a long time. I started lifting weights on a regular basis, and the weight started falling off. I'm slowly adding walking/cardio back in to break a plateua, but what the heck happened with that? Full disclosure, I'm hypothyroid, but that is well controlled. I was low T, and was placed on TRT a year ago and that seems to really have helped too. But even with low T, I was in a calorie deficit and walking my tail off and saw no results. Even now, cardio doesn't seem to help me much.

I completely endorse this. However, I will say that if you are walking on concrete regularly and long enough just be careful. After about 2.5 months of walking 3-6 miles 4-5x a week, my knees started bothering me, likely due to the speed I was walking and the constant pounding on the concrete... Have had to leave out the walking for the last week or two and have replaced it with elliptical "walking" keeping my heart rate around the same place it would be while walking...

How long you walking for and do you then do any resistance work?
@freemanslot
@freemanslot 9 ай бұрын
@@Daddledofa I try to keep up a good pace for 1 hour so about 3 miles. I use light free weights and do some stretches/bodywheight exercise. Not a terrible amount of resistance training. It does speed things up though if that’s what you’re looking for.

used to walk 6 to 8 hours per day while working in a berry farm. Super lean during that period of time.

The big challenge is to just keep walking every day. Eventually you will lose the fat. Then it won't matter when you walk.

I lost 200 pounds a lot of it was done walking!!! I’ve kept it off since 2009 I love your videos I know you are busy but I’d love to talk with you if you would have time. My timing is fasted first thing in the morning then after my first meal at noon and in the evening. I split mine up. This is interesting!!!

But you burn so much more fat when it's dangerous. You burn what's called "the Dangerous Deep Fat". This isn't the harmless fat, no way.

We get up at 4am, walk at least 30 mins with backpack of around 50 lbs while still dark, return home, sleep for an hour or so and then eat breakfast, really works.

I tend to walk the kids to school (or the dog on weekends) fasted, or/and a walk at about 5.30pm after work after not eating since lunch (and when I really want to eat anyway). This is pure coincidence BTW. Helped me shift 20 lbs in 2 montbs so far.

Did they dexa scan both groups? My guess is that if you control for calories in and walking duration/intensity then the timing of the walk wouldn't matter. I would be interested in subjective measures of satiety among the two groups though. If one was reportingless hunger, that could effect diet compliance and make a difference.

When you walk does not matter for fat loss. You are not going to lose more fat if you walk fasted. What matter is calories in and calories out.
