I really wish my husband could listen to this. He seems to value other people's opinions over mine. I'm always made to feel very small and not important when it comes to decisions. His mother and sister and her family lives with us so I get lost in the shuffle a lot. It's causing a lot of fights between us ever since this dynamic has taken place and I always feel sad and lonely. Hes very close with his family and I don't have family like him so I definitely feel like the odd one out. Especially when he consults with them without me ect ect about changes in the home ect. Ive heard them say horrible things about me and it gets turn back on me. He never has my back and I feel so sad. His family is accommodated in so many more ways to feel comfortable but if I even have a peep of a say, it's turned into major drama. He doesn't see me when I cry in my car alone, when he's sleeping or in the shower. Spiritually it's causing me to stumble.

the Bible says : Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Genesis 2:24 I tend to think that a man who remains too close to his family and does not distance himself relatively from it to build his own remains a child. this can prevent him from deploying and especially from relying on his wife to build... if you can, treat yourself to a vacation alone elsewhere, make it. Silence generally makes a man think and allows him to project himself, don't talk to him a lot, rather let him express himself. May the Lord visit you and do good to your home in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

Why do preachers always start with verse 22? Verse 21 should be the starting point. Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. This is the key to a godly and successful marriage. If the husband and wife fear God, they will be led by him and treat each other the way they should be treated.
@amanzeanuonye58503 жыл бұрын
Very correct.
@marcopadilla98043 жыл бұрын
In context verse one instruct us to love each other (as the church) just as Christ Loved the church and verse 21 it instructs us to submit (as the church) to submit to one another (due to what he has explained in the prior verses) so this means as he starts to write how this all works also in the home that the husband as his wife should submit to one another and the wife just as the husband should love each other. As Paul explains it appears to be a gospel dance in the marriage. The marriage should be as Christ said-if anyone wants to be the greatest will be the servant of all (submit) and in Philippians Paul say that-Do not do anything in selfish ambition or self conceit but in humility value others above yourself not looking for your own interest but in the interest of others (Love). I would say many more marriages would be gospel centered if we teach our young people as they getting married this concept. Blessings

Great teaching, as always, Dr Munroe. I have questions on one aspect of this teaching, about children obeying their parents 'in the Lord', and that if they're not in the Lord children can disobey them. There are many cultures in the world that aren't Christian, but the principle of obeying parents is embedded in the moral code of every society and culture. Now, if a child converts to the faith and follows Christ, does that child, while he continues to live under the roof of his parents, now begin to disobey his parents because their lifestyle is not Christian? That introduces a rapture in the moral order of that society that is unsustainable. I guess the examples given here are on the extreme side, such as a parent wanting to take their child to a night club. But across many countries in the continent I grew up in Africa, where society is hierarchical according to age and respect is sacrosanct, it's impractical for a child who is sent to the convenience store to buy a few groceries to say to his father, you know I'm just gonna get the bread and milk and eggs but as for your beers and pack of cigarettes, you can go get them yourself. You can surely disagree with smoking, but it's insolent and uncultured to refuse to be sent.

I agree with the context, but the Pharisees were chastised by the king for giving their parents “a gift” and not honoring them. Meaning in context honoring them means you are responsible for your parents when they’re too old to take care of themselves. This is why parents wanted to raise up seed and widows wanted to have strong son so that they knew that they’d be taken care of. The volume of the book teaches of plight of the widow and the orphan. Children do have a responsibility to their parents according to our King. I don’t care what Paul has to say about it. There is a pecking order and he cannot add to, or take away from the law

You love her as Christ love the Church and the respect and other things follow. Some men expect to receive respect before they love. While we were yet sinners, Jesus gave his life because he loved us so. Truly love her consistently and watch her submit without even knowing it, guaranteed
@samuelmiller70432 жыл бұрын
sometimes she needs healing, look deeper, it may not have anything to do with you. Don't be reactive be attentive. Search deeper-it could be childhood trauma. Treat her the way she does not deserve. Messiah treats us like that. He shows us himself, that he is consistent. Give unconditional love - see to it her need is met- sometimes it takes counseling but for you it's about your approach. The Father said when he found Israel they were still in their mothers blood - cast aside. Ezekiel 16. See beyond her mess - help her clean up if you have that love in you. it is sacrificial. Think of how we abuse Messiah and the Father by our lifestyle prior to knowing and accepting him. It grieved him yet he died for us. Peace my man
