I made a sudden change to WFPB 12 years ago. Blood test after 1 week showed major change downward (except for HDL) . Takes a bit longer to reach equilibrium. Don't need a month to see dramatic changes if due to lifestyle and not genes, but a month will likely show total effect.

PS When I went WFPB 12 years ago my biggest changes were in TG and LDL. TG from 220 to 80 mg/dL LDL-C from 130 to mid 70s. TC from 210 to 140. Happened fast. BP also dropped to less than 120/80. I am now 70 and over the years I went through a few periods where I ate a bit too much processed foods, breads, crackers, cookies, and my numbers suffered. I'm in a clean run now but due to age (70) have added low dose ( 5mg) statin as an insurance policy which may also help with regression.

How about non fat greek yogurt? Is it inflammatory?... no fat and no added sugar?

Interesting content,. I would be interested in how you can get the recommended 1500 mg of calcium on a WFPB diet.

What about eating Avocados which are high in fat?
@jimmyestes692814 сағат бұрын
They do contain some saturated fat, but they also have a lot of mono and polyunsaturated fats. I was listening to another doctor who said the mono and polyunsaturated fats help lower LDL cholesterol.
@aboutsupplies2 күн бұрын
Lowering LDL on hospital patients (12,000) eho were at high risk of cardiovascular events, did not improve their mortality rate when their LDL levels were lowered to what was seen as a accepted rate. There have been 2 other randomised control clinical studies showing the same...no improvement in mortality rates from lowered LDL.

You failed to mention high LPa (lipoprotein A) which affects 20% of population - a genetic factor which is largely unaffected by diet. There’s currently no medical treatment available although some promising drug trials are underway.
@ccamireКүн бұрын
LPa is hardly a valid biomarker for CVD. Just like LDL is not, pharma has created fear in people. I know i worked for pharma for 40 yrs

The healthfulness of eliminating decaying carcasses, mother cow/goat lactation breast milk for her calf turned dairy products, and the menstruation eggs of female birds is empowering. The simplicity of eating bean burritos vs. Rotting flesh burritos.

In 1957 Dr. Fred Kummerow who lived to age 102 got the arteries of people who died of heart disease and he found high levels of a vegan product which had no cholesterol or animal fat, it was called partially hydrogenated cottonseed oil and it was loaded with trans fats. There are some people who still get heart attacks from consuming a plant based diet high in plant sterols and plant stanols, it's called Sitosterolemia and it's more common than people think. Dr. Fred Kummerow knew all about fats, lipids and phytosterols but people who had no Ph.D and no credentials and no qualifications in nutritional biochemistry such as Dr. Atkins, Pritikin, McDougall, Ornish, Fuhrman and Esselstyn had no clue about anything for over half a century and now they don't have the guts to admit they were wrong.

I was actually diagnosed with the 2% that it is genetic to have high cholesterol. My blood pressure is pretty normal. I went plant based 8 years ago but took statins for about 5 years. My level ( canada numbers from 13 to about 5) once I got those numbers down to where my doctor was happy I stopped taking the statins. What are the chances that my blood cholesterol level will go back up? I do occasionally use olive oil to cook but it's about a table spoon for a meal. Or am I doomed to keep statins in my life? I'm 52. My dad died at 65 from heart disease.

I know there's alot of advice and "stories" out to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, I am 70 and eat every morning 1 or 1/2 Kiwi fruit and cinnamon on my porridge, my cholesterol are normal and bloodpressure are low. I am vegan as well. Every one always said it's genetic ?? 😊
@Cdnl4927Күн бұрын
Maybe they say genetic because then they don't feel like they need to "sacrifice" and do the same. Ha ha. If it's genetic, then they think one has no control, so then they are off the hook to try and change lifestyle. 😂

What about Dr klaper saying that living on a WFPB DIET, no animal products your body can still produce cholesterol and it can be high and said to have a blood test for inflammation and if it's clear u needn't be concerned about a high reading

I consume a lot of peanut butter. I am vegan and eat some junk food too. I consume a lot of kale, flax seed and avocado in my smoothies too. My cardiologist said I have zero build up in my heart, so she said keep doing what I'm doing. I have a cardiologist because I had a congenital hole in the heart that needed to be closed. I believe that my lifestyle including diet, helped my body stay healthy for so long without major symptoms. If peanut butter and other things like avocado were damaging to the body, I would be in bad shape and I'm not. I could be a freak of nature, but then my mom and stepfather are the same in terms of what we eat. 🤷🏻♀️

Why do only 1/3 respond to dietary change if only 2% have genetic factors? Shouldn’t the diet make a difference for more than 1/3?
